	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/07/2019 answer text <p>The number of police officers in the Borough of Wandsworth is not collected centrally as the Home Office only collects this information at Police Force Area (PFA) level only.</p><p>The Home Office collects and publishes statistics on the number of police officers employed by each police force in England and Wales on a bi-annual basis. Police and Crime Commissioners and chief constables are best placed to decide how to deploy their officers to investigate these crimes. The police are operationally independent of Government; therefore, the Government does not hold information about the number of police officers allocated to investigate these crimes.</p><p>The Home Office is providing £1.9m financial support through Police Special Grant funding to Operation Hydrant towards the coordination of child sexual abuse and exploitation investigations concerning institutional settings. Operation Hydrant publishes statistics quarterly at: <a href="https://www.npcc.police.uk/NPCCBusinessAreas/OtherWorkAreas/OpHydrant/Statistics.aspx" target="_blank">https://www.npcc.police.uk/NPCCBusinessAreas/OtherWorkAreas/OpHydrant/Statistics.aspx</a>.</p><p>Latest published statistics by Operation Hydrant feature 329 sport institutions on the Operation Hydrant database up to and including the 30 September 2018. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/01/2018 answer text <p>Everyone who is held in custody should be treated with dignity and have their needs respected. The Home Office is working closely with the Independent Custody Visiting Association (ICVA) and the National Police Chiefs’ Council (NPCC) to address concerns raised about hygiene and sanitary protection arrangements for female detainees in police custody. <br> <br>In order to achieve greater consistency across the country, the NPCC is currently consulting forces on their policies and procedures concerning hygiene and sanitary protection with a view to developing new comprehensive guidance for officers.</p><p>Home Office officials are considering whether any revisions to PACE Code C are required to ensure that the specific needs of women in detention are recognised and that there are clear statutory guidelines for police practice, taking into account our duties under the Equality Act 2010. <br> <br>Alongside this work, Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire Rescue Services (HMICFRS) are considering increasing the level of scrutiny when conducting custody inspections to ensure the rights of women are protected and they are treated with dignity.
