star this property answer text <p>We must support Ukraine’s vision for rebuilding a sovereign, prosperous, democratic nation that is stronger than before Putin’s invasion. Significant support will be required for Ukraine to recover and rebuild from the damage wrought by this war. In early July, the former Foreign Secretary presented our vision to support a Ukraine-led effort for recovery and reconstruction at the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Lugano. We will host the Conference in 2023 to galvanise further international support. The priority now is to address Ukraine’s immediate economic needs, and in the longer term, leverage UK private sector investment and work to support Ukraine’s future economic growth.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>On 29 July the Government set out further details of the Energy Bills Support Scheme (EBSS) and confirmed that further funding would be available to provide equivalent support of £400 for energy bills for the small percentage of domestic energy consumers not reached by EBSS. This will include those who do not have a domestic electricity meter or a direct relationship with an energy supplier.</p><p> </p><p>This support will be provided alongside the ‘Energy Price Guarantee’ which will mean a typical UK household will pay no more than £2,500 a year on its energy bill for the next two years.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p><del class="ministerial">The Government has been in commercial negotiations with both EDF and the Sizewell C project company since January 2021. These negotiations are ongoing and commercially sensitive.</del></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The Government is accelerating all sources of domestic energy, including North Sea oil and gas production. Subject to the Climate Compatibility Checkpoint, The North Sea Transition Authority will be launching a new licensing round for North Sea oil and gas shortly, which is expected to lead to over 100 new licences being awarded.</ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial"> </ins></p><p><ins class="ministerial">The Government will also end the pause on shale gas extraction. Having domestic sources of gas makes us less dependent on foreign imports.</ins></p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Differences in prices across countries are influenced by many factors, including differences in fuel mixes, market structures, regulation, and taxation strategies within each country.</p><p> </p><p>For example, some countries have historically passed proportionally more energy system costs onto households than businesses compared to the UK. Other countries benefit from very cheap hydropower.</p><p> </p><p>This means that while all countries have been affected by the rise in global energy prices, the impact on households and businesses will vary between countries.</p><p> </p><p>In light of the unprecedented increase in global energy prices, on September 8th the Government announced a package of measures to support people and businesses with their energy bills.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Ministers and Officials in the Department regularly engage with energy suppliers to discuss the impact of rising energy costs on businesses of all sizes.</p><p> </p><p>The Government announced a new six-month scheme – the Energy Price Guarantee for Businesses (EPGB) – to protect all businesses and other non-domestic energy users from soaring energy costs. The scheme will offer comparable support to that being provided for consumers and more details will follow shortly. After this initial six-month scheme, the Government will provide focused support for vulnerable sectors, targeted to make sure those most in need get support.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>If landlords have a domestic electricity meter point, they will receive £400 through the Energy Bills Support Scheme. The Government encourages landlords to pass the payment to tenants to ensure it is reflected in tenants’ inclusive charges or separate bill payments.
