	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/03/2023 answer text <p>The Armed Forces settlement fee exemption was launched in April last year in recognition of the immensely valuable contribution that thousands of overseas personnel make to the UK while serving in HM Forces. It applies to discharged personnel who have served in the UK Armed Forces for a minimum period of six years or have been discharged due to an illness or injury attributable to their service.</p><p> </p><p>The fees and policies that apply to family members of Commonwealth and other non-UK members of HM Forces are closely aligned with those that apply to British citizens and settled persons under the standard family rules. As such there are no plans to extend the fee exemption to family members of Armed Forces personnel.</p><p> </p><p>Further support for Armed Forces families in planning for the cost of visa fees is provided by the Joining Forces Credit Union service.
