However it is possible to provide an estimate. Defra's statistics on ‘The Area of Crops Grown For Bioenergy in England and the UK: 2008 – 2012' published in December 2013 include data reported under the Renewable Transport Fuel Obligation (RTFO) on the volume of bioethanol supplied to the UK road transport market with information on the feedstock and the country of origin of the feedstock. By applying appropriate conversion factors, it is possible to derive an estimate of the equivalent tonnage and crop area of wheat grown and used to produce bioethanol. There has been a broad range of different communications provided by APHA to private veterinary practices and farmers regarding changes to the veterinary surveillance network, including:</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>(a) Public consultation on the development of a new surveillance model, from December 2012 to February 2013, which gathered over 370 responses from vets, farmers, the livestock industry and other stakeholders.</p><p> </p><p><strong> </strong></p><p> </p><p>(b) Visits to a total of 57 private veterinary practices in England and Wales from January 2014 to January 2015.</p><p> </p><p><strong> </strong></p><p> </p><p>(c) A series of 19 regional meetings for private veterinary practitioners in different parts of England and Wales, running from December 2014 until March 2015.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>(d) A total of 22 articles, letters or other forms of communication to private veterinary practices or farmers from February 2014 to date.</p><p> </p><p>Details of the surveillance model are being finalised. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/04/2016 answer text <p>The Animal and Plant Health Agency (APHA), compiles the UK contingency plan for exotic notifiable disease that sits above plans designed by Defra and the Scottish, Welsh and Northern Ireland Governments.</p><p>These are key documents that describe the strategic, tactical and operational responses required to any incursion of exotic notifiable disease, such as foot and mouth disease. These plans are complemented by specific GB disease control strategies and APHA work with the Government Departments in each administration to produce the necessary operational instructions.</p><p>To ensure the plans and instructions are fit for purpose, the UK runs a national animal disease exercise roughly every other year on various exotic diseases and we regularly include foot and mouth disease in those exercises.</p><p>The next national exercise will be in June 2018 and will be based on a foot and mouth disease scenario.</p><p>APHA also create and manage an annual programme of regional or country exercises designed to identify best practice and any gaps in existing plans or procedures.
