star this property answer text <p>The Trade Envoy programme has been in operation since 2012 and continues to go from strength to strength.</p><p> </p><p>There are currently 21 Trade Envoys covering around 50 markets. Trade Envoys support the drive for economic growth by building on the UK’s existing relations with these markets and maximising bilateral trade.</p><p> </p><p>It is crucial that we use all tools at our disposal to promote British trade across the world and Trade Envoys will be a key part of our Departmental strategy.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Great.gov.uk is a digital platform with a suite of digital tools built to help UK businesses expand their reach overseas and secure their place on the global stage.</p><p>UK and overseas marketing activity and DIT’s commercial partnerships are used to promote the platform.</p><p>In the 14 months since great.gov.uk was launched in November 2016, great.gov.uk has been visited by nearly 2.8 million unique users. Of these:</p><p> </p><ul><li>The Invest tool, which promotes the UK as an obvious destination for inward investment, has received over 764,000 online visits with over 1,200 enquiries</li><li>The Export Opportunities tool has received over 67,000 responses from UK businesses to 13,000 published export opportunities, which have been gathered and published by our network of in-post Embassy and High Commission trade experts, as well as overseas partner stakeholders</li><li>The Trade Profile tool has published over 2,600 verified UK business profiles, presenting them to a wide network of prospective overseas buyers and partners</li><li>The Export Readiness tool, which went live in December 2017 and helps UK businesses see how export-ready they are, and presents them with tailored information has already been used by 710 companies.</li></ul><p> </p><p>Activity is planned to promote this platform further to the UK and overseas businesses.</p>

star this property answer text <p>My Rt Hon Friend the Secretary of State for International Trade regularly engages with his counterparts from Commonwealth countries, including at recent bilateral meetings at the 11th WTO MC11 Ministerial Conference meeting on 11 – 14 December 2017 and at the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting on 23 – 26 January.</p><p>Given the importance we place on increasing intra-Commonwealth Trade and Investment and the forthcoming Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in London, the Secretary of State and the Ministerial team will continue to have these discussions.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Scotch Whisky is an important part of the UK’s overall exports, representing 20% of UK food and drink exports.</p><p> </p><p>Ministers and officials from this department have regular discussions with the Scotch Whisky Association and other representatives from the industry and actively work with them to help increase whisky exports. Representatives of the Scotch Whisky Association recently joined business delegations to Africa and India led by the Prime Minister. The industry is supported in a similar way to other food and drink producers; we help them take advantage of a wide range of overseas opportunities. The importance of the industry to the UK economy cannot be overstated, being the largest export within the sector with international sales valued at over £4 billion in 2017.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Export Strategy, launched in August this year, sets out a new offer to business that provides the support and finance to help UK businesses export. This was created in consultation with business and business organisations to help maximise our exports across the whole of the UK.</p><p><br>Much has already been achieved, like the expansion of finance-led Supplier Fairs delivered by UK Export Finance and an enhanced digital service linking businesses with thousands of export opportunities on great.gov.uk. Preparations to implement further commitments are also well developed, with a view to these being rolled out over coming months.</p> more like this
