	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/09/2024 answer text <p>Ministers and officials in the Department of Health and Social Care will continue to work closely with colleagues at the Department for Education, as part of our mission to build a National Health Service that is fit for the future, and that supports the mental health needs of children of primary school age.</p><p>We are working with our colleagues at NHS England and the Department for Education to consider options to deliver our commitments to recruit 8,500 additional mental health workers across children and adult mental health services, and to introduce a specialist mental health professional in every school, so that mental health conditions, such as anxiety and depression, can be identified early on and prevented from developing into more serious conditions in later life. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/09/2024 answer text <p>Professor Lord Darzi’s report sets out that the United Kingdom has higher mortality from cancer than neighbouring countries, the Nordic countries, and other English-speaking countries, using data published by the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development. His report also uses the latest data from the International Cancer Benchmarking Partnership to show that five-year survival for common cancers is below that of comparable countries.</p><p>The Department remains committed to improving cancer survival rates by hitting all National Health Service cancer waiting time targets within five years, so no patient waits longer than they should.</p><p>We will get the NHS diagnosing cancer on time, diagnosing it earlier, and treating it faster, and we will improve patients’ experience across the system.</p><p>The findings of Professor Lord Darzi’s independent review will feed into the Government’s 10-year plan to build a health service that is fit for the future. Alan Milburn does not have a role in the Department of Health and Social Care.</p><p>It is also entirely legitimate for Government Departments to invite people with a wide range of experience and insight to advise on policy debates and discussions. NHS England has a legal duty to annually assess the performance of each integrated care board, in respect of each financial year, and publish a summary of its findings. Annual assessments for the financial year 2023/24 have been completed and NHS England will summarise the outcomes of all annual assessments and publish a report.</p><p>In addition, the Government published Professor Lord Darzi’s independent investigation of the NHS in England on 12 September 2024, which includes an assessment of the progress of and challenges facing ICBs.
