star this property answer text <p>There is not a requirement to modify all UK platforms to meet a height of 915 mm but if upgrade work is carried out this is currently the applicable height. For platforms on new railways, such as HS2, this height may be too low to facilitate level boarding and the application of alternative heights is being considered.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Department for Transport is working with Network Rail and other parties to explore new models for station management and ownership with the goal to bring improvements for both passengers and the communities they serve.</p><p> </p><p>Any decisions on such potential future options will take account of the ‎recommendations of Nicola Shaw's report into the longer term shape and financing of Network Rail, and the government would expect any proposals to demonstrate improvements for passengers and value for money for the taxpayer.</p> more like this

The Government has made available substantial funds to the Local Enterprise Partnerships (LEPs) to support local economic development. star this property answer text <p>Network Rail is responsible for managing a large number of station rebuilding projects. The scope and scale of these works vary from relatively minor works to very large scale projects such as London King’s Cross or Birmingham New Street. The amount of assessment will similarly vary depending upon the scale of the project concerned. For the larger schemes it is usual for the Department for Transport to appoint a scheme sponsor. These sponsors are in regular contact with Network Rail to undertake assurance activity around delivery.</p><p> </p><p>In addition the Office of Rail Regulation undertakes regular reviews of Network Rail’s delivery against its Business Plan commitments, and this will include station rebuilding projects.</p> more like this
