star this property answer text <p>For the Batch 1 Type 26 frigates, almost 50 per cent by value of the steel is UK sourced. <del class="ministerial">Steel has not yet been purchased for the Batch 2 ships</del>. <ins class="ministerial">Approximately 994 tonnes of steel was purchased for the first Batch 2 ship, HMS Birmingham, in 2022 and 25 per cent of this steel was produced in the UK.</ins></p><p> </p><p>Steel for the Type 31 frigates is sourced by Babcock from UK-based stockists. Both the Type 26 and Type 31 classes require the use of thin plate steel and this specification of steel with the required combination of thickness, size and flatness is not manufactured in the UK.</p><p> </p><p>Steel for our major defence programmes is generally sourced by our prime contractors from a range of UK and international suppliers and is procured in accordance with Cabinet Office guidelines. We encourage the sourcing of UK steel wherever it is technically and commercially feasible.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Challenger 3 prototypes will be delivered through 2023 and <del class="ministerial">2024</del><ins class="ministerial">early 2025</ins> for use in demonstration trials. Once the design has been proven it is currently planned that the Challenger 3 tanks will be delivered to the Army from 2027, with Full Operating Capability delivered by 2030. star this property answer text <p>The Strategy for Defence Infrastructure, published in January 2022 set the ambition to have a resilient energy supply across Defence establishments. Ensuring resilience will require a move towards increased energy independence, reducing reliance on the National Grid with increased self-generation of energy. Solar power (e.g. Project PROMETHEUS) will be an important contributor to self-generation. Energy solutions will need to be appropriate to each establishment, informed by energy surveys and balanced against safeguarding military requirements as the primary use of land. Therefore, there are currently no specific targets in place. In addition, it is important that Defence has a blend of energy generation capability, to ensure resilience of supply. A Defence Estate Energy Strategy is under development to plot the route to increased energy resilience across the Estate.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Each month, on average, there will typically be over 20,200 maintenance tasks raised for the circa 37,000 currently occupied Service Family Accommodation properties; this equates to each home having on average five to six repairs carried out annually. These tasks will range from changing bulbs in strip lights, grounds maintenance, through to boiler repairs.</p><p>The tables below show the number of work orders which were reported each month to the Regional Accommodation Maintenance Service suppliers and remained open at the end of each month in Northern and Central and Southeast and Southwest regions that were classed as urgent and routine in February 2023 and March 2023.
