This includes:</p><p>- The rollout of an online spiking reporting and advice tool across the UK to encourage more and better reporting of spiking, including anonymously. This is intended to improve data on the prevalence and scale of spiking.</p><p>- Providing funding for the development of spiking training to ensure that night time economy staff are trained to respond effectively to reports of spiking and co-ordinate with security staff and the emergency services.</p><p>- The government has committed in its manifesto to introduce a new criminal offence for spiking to help police better respond to this crime. This will form part of the Crime and Policing Bill.</p><p>- The formation of a rapid testing capability for spiking to gather more accurate results in a quicker time frame (2-3 weeks opposed to 6-8). This is being supported by research into the efficacy of rapid urine testing kits which aim to provide results in a matter of minutes. The Home Office has undertaken activity since 2023 to address issues in the sector including commissioning the Migration Advisory Committee to undertake a review of the Immigration Salary List and requiring those sponsoring care workers in England to be registered with the Care Quality Commission.</p><p>The Government is committed to reducing historically high levels of legal migration and addressing the root causes. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 17/09/2024 answer text <p>The Government is committed to tackling modern slavery; ensuring that victims are provided with the support they need to begin rebuilding their lives and that those responsible are prosecuted.</p><p>The National Referral Mechanism (NRM) is the UK’s framework for identifying and referring potential victims of modern slavery which works to ensure that confirmed victims receive support until they no longer have recovery needs, or until these needs are met by other services, including if this takes 12 months, or longer.</p><p>The unprecedented increase in the volume of referrals into the NRM has presented significant challenges in resourcing and workflow, and we recognise that wait times are too long. Work has been done to increase capacity for decision making, improve operational effectiveness and testing alternative approaches to decision making, but recognise that more needs to be done and are considering options. I am as keen as you to ensure that this happens.</p><p>We keep all policies and processes under review.</p><p>The Modern Slavery Statutory Guidance sets out when access to modern slavery support may be withheld and that potential victims in the NRM can choose to have legal representation. It also sets out the current prioritisation approach and priorities can change periodically in line with Ministerial arrangements under the Equality Act 2010. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 02/09/2024 answer text <p>The arrangements enabling a Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) to appoint a deputy and the functions a deputy can exercise, are set out within the Police Reform and Social Responsibility Act 2011.</p><p>Before appointing a deputy, a PCC must notify the local Police and Crime Panel of the proposed appointment. This must include the name of the candidate, the criteria used to assess their suitability, how the candidate satisfies those criteria, and the terms and conditions on which the candidate is to be appointed.
