star this property answer text <p>The remaining cases that are yet to be decided are awaiting responses from applicants where we have contacted them for further information to confirm the leave that they qualify for. We recognise that applicants may lack documentary evidence for assorted reasons, we are committed to working flexibly with applicants to help them evidence their continuous residence in the UK by the best means available to them.</p><p>Caseworkers will be able to exercise discretion in favour of the applicants where appropriate, to avoid unnecessary administrative burdens and delays. In addition, we have created a new helpline specifically for the settlement scheme and are working with applicants to help them avoid any errors or omissions we are looking for reasons to grant applications, not refuse them.</p><p>In Private Beta Phase 1, the average time taken on all decisions was just under 9 calendar days, with the fastest application decision being made within 3 days.</p> more like this

If the declared status cannot be confirmed, we work with the applicant to ensure they obtain the leave under the scheme for which they qualify. star this property answer text <p>UK Visas and Immigration continues to work towards providing a World Class Customer Service. To that end, insight and feedback are used continuously to improve our services. Where an application is made in the UK, customers can contact our in-country contact centre and are provided with information about the Immigration Rules and the requirements of the Points Based System.</p><p>In addition to the established contact system, since the commitments mentioned by the Hon. Member on 23<sup>rd</sup> April, several improved services have been introduced. These include a Customer Resolution Centre for our EU Settlement Scheme to proactively support EU citizens through the application process and in April 2018 we also formed a dedicated, free, helpline for those individuals who are part of the Windrush generation and wish to seek the help of the Windrush Taskforce.</p><p>Since 6<sup>th</sup> August we have also been piloting a dedicated service through the Citizens Advice in Bolton and our Croydon Contact Centre for customers who need more in-depth information regarding their immigration applications.</p>

star this property answer text <p>As set out in the statement of intent published on 21 June, EU citizens resident in the UK should apply to the EU Settlement Scheme by 30 June 2021 to obtain their new UK immigration status. This will enable them to continue their lives in the UK with the same entitlements to work, study and access public services and benefits. Evidence of this new UK immigration status will be given in digital form to EU citizens. This will provide them with a convenient way of evidencing their status to those who may need to see confirmation of it, such as an employer, landlord or other service provider. The Government will set out any further plans for adjusting statutory checks by employers, landlords and other service providers in due course.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>On 17 June 2019, the Home Secretary reaffirmed the UK’s commitment to refugee resettlement by announcing a new, global scheme, which will begin in 2020 and aims to resettle in the region of 5,000 refugees in its first year of operation. It is right that we continue to offer safe and legal routes to the UK for the most vulnerable, for whom resettlement is the only durable solution.</p><p>This announcement is a clear statement of intent and the department will work to secure longer-term funding for the future of resettlement through the next Spending Review. We continue to engage with international and domestic delivery partners and stakeholders as we prepare to transition to the new scheme in 2020 and work through detailed policy of the new scheme, including the form of leave to be granted to refugees arriving under it.</p> more like this
