	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/03/2018 answer text <p>The UK has a comprehensive offer for skilled technology entrepreneurs seeking to work in the United Kingdom.</p><p>Migrants wishing to establish, set up or take over a business in the UK may apply under our Tier 1 (Entrepreneur) visa route if they can demonstrate a credible business plan and have £50,000 funding to invest in their business from a specified source, or £200,000 from any source.</p><p>For migrants who have studied at UK universities and now wish to set up their own technology business, the Tier 1 Graduate Entrepreneur visa route is also available. This route requires applicants to be endorsed by a Higher Education Institution but does not require any minimum investment funds and allows applications to work part time to support themselves as they develop their business. The independent Migration Advisory Committee’s review of the route in 2015, concluded that the Graduate Entrepreneur scheme works well; it has limited numbers and attracts high quality people. The Government is currently considering the MAC’s wider recommendations from that review.</p><p>For skilled technology entrepreneurs who are at the very top of their profession that can demonstrate exceptional skills or potential the UK also maintains an exceptional talent route. The Tier 1 (Exceptional Talent) route has 5 endorsing bodies of which Tech City provides endorsement for those in the digital technology sector. On 11 January 2018, we doubled the number of exceptional talent places available each year to 2000 places, recognising the contribution that these highly skilled migrants make to the UK. We recognise that applicants may lack documentary evidence for assorted reasons, we are committed to working flexibly with applicants to help them evidence their continuous residence in the UK by the best means available to them.</p><p>Caseworkers will be able to exercise discretion in favour of the applicants where appropriate, to avoid unnecessary administrative burdens and delays. To that end, insight and feedback are used continuously to improve our services. Where an application is made in the UK, customers can contact our in-country contact centre and are provided with information about the Immigration Rules and the requirements of the Points Based System.</p><p>In addition to the established contact system, since the commitments mentioned by the Hon. Member on 23<sup>rd</sup> April, several improved services have been introduced. This will enable them to continue their lives in the UK with the same entitlements to work, study and access public services and benefits. Evidence of this new UK immigration status will be given in digital form to EU citizens. This will provide them with a convenient way of evidencing their status to those who may need to see confirmation of it, such as an employer, landlord or other service provider. It will be accessible through a computer, tablet or smartphone, and the optional app for identity verification will be accessible on compatible devices. More information will be published in due course about the locations which applicants will also be able to visit to use the app or be helped to do so, and about the customer contact centre which will be established to help applicants through the process and how that centre will operate.</p><p>I also confirmed that we intend that the settlement scheme described in the Statement of Intent I published yesterday will be open to citizens of the other European Economic Area states (Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway) and Switzerland, and their family members, on a similar basis as for EU citizens.</p><p>Consistent with the draft Withdrawal Agreement, the draft Immigration Rules for the scheme contained in the Statement of Intent reflect the provision made by the Free Movement Directive for victims of domestic abuse to retain their right of residence following the termination of their marriage or civil partnership, so they will not need to rely on their former spouse or civil partner in order to obtain UK immigration status under the scheme.
