	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/04/2019 answer text <p>The Government welcomed the recent Engaging Libraries programme, supported by Carnegie UK Trust and the Wellcome Trust, which enabled public library services to pilot creative public engagement projects on health and wellbeing. We also welcome the announcement that a second phase of the programme will be launched later in 2019.</p><p> </p><p>In line with the learning in this report, the Government recognises the important roles that libraries can play in promoting health and wellbeing. In December 2016, the Libraries Taskforce (which was jointly established by DCMS and the Local Government Association) published its Libraries Deliver: Ambition document. This set out seven strategic Outcomes to which libraries contribute and that local and central government is seeking to support and encourage; one of these was helping people to have healthier and happier lives.</p><p> </p><p>The Taskforce includes representatives of Public Health England and NHS England, and has been active in promoting and sharing good practice about a number of the Engaging Libraries projects through its blog on GOV.UK. The Secretary of State has not had any further discussions on local museums and galleries since its publication. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/02/2018 answer text <p>The recent Mendoza Review: an independent review of museums in England found that over the last ten years public funding to museums and galleries in England has totalled over £8.4 billion, including £912m from the Heritage Lottery Fund. While the fall in lottery receipts will necessitate a reduction in the amount of funds distributed, the Heritage Lottery Fund will still support a broad range of heritage across the UK, including museums and galleries. Investment at a local level has been protected as far as possible to maximise the coverage, spread and number of grants. It is not possible to disaggregate the proportion of this funding that is invested just in galleries. As culture is devolved, there is also no estimate of UK-wide funding. As part of the usual business of Government, officials regularly review and consider international comparisons in the development of museums policy.
