These visitors spent £128 million in Nottinghamshire, up 23% on the previous year.</p><p> </p><p>VisitBritain and VisitEngland are responsible for promoting the UK as a tourist destination, through a range of different initiatives and campaigns. VisitBritain receive annual grant-in-aid totalling £19.4m from DCMS and VisitEngland receive £7m.</p><p> </p><p>The Discover England Fund, administered by VisitEngland, has invested in the development of tourism product across the East Midlands area. Motor sports and motor cycling clubs and associations are eligible to apply to Sport England for funding and I would encourage them to consider this as an option to help increase participation.</p><p> </p><p>I also welcome the recently launched W Series, including a race in the UK. The W Series will showcase women's motorsport to an international audience and provide new routes into the sport for women. Women and girls should never feel embarrassed to speak out about their menstrual cycle and how it affects their performance.</p><p> </p><p>We have a responsibility to break down barriers for women and ensure that coaches and sporting organisations are able to help female athletes reach their full potential. I welcome the work that the English Institute of Sport are doing through their SMARTHer campaign to open up conversations amongst athletes, coaches and staff in high performance sport around athletes’ menstrual cycles in order to improve support. The Ministry of Defence supports three service museums with grant-in-aid. In addition to this, there are around 2500 museums in England, 1,322 of which are accredited, which do not receive grant-in-aid but are supported by government by at least one of 16 different sources of public funding worth over £800 million per year, as outlined in the Mendoza Review: an independent review of museums in England published in November 2017. This includes the Arts Council England, an arm’s-length body of the department, which is the development agency for museums in England and supports museums in several ways including through its National Portfolio programme. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/05/2019 answer text <p>Government recognises the importance of sport and physical activity for disabled people who take part at both the grassroots and the elite level, as set out in the government’s sport and physical activity strategy 'Sporting Future'.</p><p> </p><p>Special Olympics GB (SOGB) received a three year grant from Sport England, the government arm’s length body for grassroots sport in England, totalling £204,363 for its core activities from October 2017 to September 2020. This grant is part of Sport England’s £1.6m grant funding to National Disability Sports Organisations.</p><p> </p><p>SOGB was also granted £43,344 of Commercial Consultancy Support (2018/19) by Sport England. Through this support they are working with Sport Collective, a sports rights and marketing agency, to identify their brand assets and value, identify and target potential partners and develop their sponsorship material.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, Sport England also gave SOGB a further £152,000 of Exchequer investment in December 2018/January 2019. We also welcome the innovation that the sector is driving such as the degradable seaweed pouches used at this year’s London Marathon instead of plastic water bottles.</p><p> </p><p>UK Sport is working alongside several events, providing support as they look into environmentally friendly delivery options. We have seen some worrying instances of discriminatory behaviour recently, most notably in football. Following the summit I chaired with football leaders on 25th February 2019, Government is working with key groups to deliver clear, tangible actions to tackle racism at all levels of football. The intention is to announce these interventions, in partnership with football, later in the year.</p><p>It is vital that the atmosphere and environment in which sport and physical activity takes place in our communities - be it grassroots or at the elite level - is safe, supportive and free of discrimination. The National Citizen Service (NCS), a voluntary social development programme for young people, is helping to build a more responsible, more cohesive and more engaged society. To deliver on this commitment, government is engaging with tech businesses to explore what more can be done. For example, together with the Minister for Digital &amp; Creative Industries, I recently hosted a roundtable with tech businesses focused on tackling loneliness using tech. The government is investing £1m in a Tech for Good Challenge Prize to further stimulate the capability of tech businesses to tackle social isolation. In April, DCMS started work with Nesta's Challenge Prize Centre to design the competition with the formal call for participants tentatively scheduled for June 2019. The Government and the Gambling Commission expect industry to comply with both the spirit and the letter of the new regulations on B2 gaming machines to ensure that consumers continue to be protected from harm.</p><p> </p><p>High-stake roulette-style products launched on 1 April by two high-street bookmakers were withdrawn the following day after a warning from the Gambling Commission. The Commission is continuing to investigate the circumstances and the operators could still face regulatory action. The Dormant Assets Commission, which reported on the feasibility of expanding the scheme in 2017, estimated that there may be up to £2bn of additional dormant assets that could be transferred into the scheme. This could significantly increase the quantity of funds available for good causes across the country.</p><p> </p><p>Building on the work of the Commission, and supported by HMT and DCMS, four senior industry leaders published a blueprint in April 2019 for broadening the scheme to include assets from the insurance and pensions, investment and wealth management, and securities sectors. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/04/2019 answer text <p>All operators providing gambling facilities to consumers in Great Britain must be licensed by the Gambling Commission and comply with licence conditions, which include the protection of vulnerable people from being harmed or exploited by gambling. Operators are required to prevent underage gambling, to intervene when a customer shows signs of being at risk of harm and to offer the facility to self-exclude. Online operators must also offer a ‘time out’ facility and can make other tools available to help players manage their gambling, such as setting time or spend limits.</p><p> </p><p>In May last year the Government published its response to the Consultation on proposals for changes to Gaming Machines and Social Responsibility Measures, which set out a comprehensive package to strengthen protections across all forms of gambling, including online. Next month, the Gambling Commission will bring in new rules requiring operators to complete age and identity verification before consumers can deposit money and gamble, or play free-to-play demo games.</p><p> </p><p>The Gambling Commission is also currently consulting on proposals to strengthen the requirement for operators to interact with consumers who may be experiencing gambling related harm. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/04/2019 answer text <p>As announced in last year’s loneliness strategy, ‘A connected society - A strategy for tackling loneliness’, and in addition to DCMS’s annual Community Life Survey, the ONS has undertaken further research on childhood loneliness.</p><p> </p><p>The Community Life Survey results for 2017-18, first published in July 2018, showed that 16-34 year olds were more likely to report feeling often or always lonely than those aged over 50. This survey showed that 8% of 16 to 24 year olds feel often or always lonely. In 2018, the Children’s Society found that 11% of 10-15 year olds feel ‘often’ lonely. This study also reported qualitative evidence of the impact of mental ill health on loneliness and individuals ability to overcome loneliness.</p><p> </p><p>ONS’s study also found that young people who reported low life satisfaction, happiness and worthwhile scores and high anxiety scores were more likely to report higher levels of loneliness.</p><p> </p><p>The Children’s Society has found strong links between loneliness and well-being.
