star this property answer text <p>The independent Commission on Dormant Assets’ final meeting was held on 1st December 2016. The Commission published its report on 3 March 2017 and is not scheduled to meet again.</p><p> </p><p>The Commission met a wide range of stakeholders, convened industry working groups and ran a call for evidence sent to around 200 organisations.</p><p>The Commission worked to Government-agreed Terms of Reference, to provide expert, independent and impartial advice and evidence on:</p><ul><li>which dormant assets can be brought into an expanded dormant asset scheme, and how they can be identified by industry;</li><li>the projected size of the funding pot this could produce for good causes;</li><li>whether, with the potential increase of dormant assets being released by industry, the current system is able to manage the burden; and</li><li>whether any new legislation should include a requirement for improved transparency from industry on disclosing the level of assets within their sector</li></ul><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>The advisory group is chaired by Elizabeth Corley, VC Allianz Global Investors, and is made up of senior industry representatives from across the savings and investment sectors, with a balance of CEO’s, senior practitioners and product experts. A full list of organisations that are involved can be found at Annex A.</p><p>The group’s first meeting was on the 18th January and will meet four more times before July, when the group will announce their initial recommendations to government and industry. The three working groups, that have been set up to look at specific issues around Product, Distribution and Customer Engagement, will meet more frequently. Explore barriers to the development of products with social impact components</p><p>2. Explore barriers to the demand for and distribution of such products</p><p>3. Consider who is best placed to identify and implement solutions</p><p>4. Consider how existing best practice, regulatory incentives and further measures can reduce or remove barriers</p><p>5. Develop ideas for how best to explain social impact savings and investment choices to individuals and to provide feedback on impact to any fiduciaries and advisors involved</p><p>6. Discuss timescales for solutions, including possible next steps for any longer-term work to be taken forward beyond the advisory group.</p><p>Elizabeth Corley, Vice Chair of Allianz Global Investors (and previously CEO) has been asked to Chair the group. The group has been asked to make an initial report to the Minister for Civil Society and the Economic Secretary to the Treasury in Summer 2017.</p><p>Conclusions and recommendations are those of the group, but may not represent any individual member’s view. Any decisions on government policy rest with the ministers of the day.</p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>The remark made by the Sports Minister in Sports Management magazine is reference to the fact that the funding set out in Sporting Future and Sport England's strategy, Towards an Active Nation, comes in as of April 2017, when the new financial year begins. This is when a number of the new investment programmes set out in Towards an Active Nation will begin.</p><p> </p><p>Local authorities are the biggest investors in sport and physical activity. Good local authorities will recognise the value of investing in sport and physical activity for the long term benefits this brings to their residents' physical and mental wellbeing.</p><p> </p><p>Sport England works with local authorities in England to provide advice and expertise on how sports facilities in their communities can be managed in a strategic, cost-effective and sustainable way.</p><p> </p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The protection of children from being harmed or exploited by gambling is one of the three licensing objectives that underpin the regulation of gambling in Great Britain. The Commission use a range of tools to prevent children from accessing gambling, one of which is to issue penalties.</p><p> </p><p>The Gambling Commission licence and regulate gambling operators but individual gambling premises (across the land based sectors) are regulated by licensing authorities (local authorities). Any individual action in relation to land based gambling premises regarding underage gambling would therefore be taken by licensing authorities; as such, the Government does not hold the number of people convicted of failing to prevent underage gambling.</p><p> </p><p>In terms of online, from November 2014 the Commission’s regulatory framework was extended to include, for the first time, remote gambling operators that are based outside of Britain but are selling to customers here. In February 2017 the Gambling Commission prosecuted two men who were offering online unlicensed gambling to children. Fines and costs totalled £265,000.</p>

star this property answer text <p>All operators that offer bets to people in Great Britain must obtain a licence from the Gambling Commission. Where an operator breaches the conditions of its licence the Gambling Commission has a range of powers at its disposal, including financial penalties, imposition of licence conditions or revoking the licence.</p><p> </p><p>Where websites are identified that are offering facilities for gambling to customers in Britain without the appropriate licence the Commission will take action to ensure compliance with the licensing regime.</p><p><strong> </strong></p> more like this
