In the financial &amp; insurance activities sector, the overall gender pay gap is (including both part time and full time workers) down from 44.3% in 2011 to 40.2% in 2014. However, the sector still has a completely unacceptable pay gap of around twice the national average, so more needs to be done. We are strongly encouraging more girls to consider maths and science-related careers through the “Your Life” initiative. Women in the sector will also benefit from the many other measures we are taking to drive the pay gap down further, including extending flexible working to all employees; introducing Shared Parental Leave; and bringing in new childcare tax provisions. We are also providing free software to companies for them to calculate any pay gaps and to analyse the causes of them.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>The UK takes a voluntary approach increasing the numbers of women on boards. We are making progress with the Lord Davies business-led initiative to achieve 25% women on boards by 2015 and have moved from 12.5% to nearly 23% of women on the boards of the top 100 companies since 2011. For the first time, every board of Britain’s top 100 companies has at least one woman. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/12/2014 answer text <p>The confirmation dry run match rate with Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) data for Great Britain is included in the Electoral Commission’s report on the dry run, which is available on its website. Across Great Britain 78% of electors could be matched with DWP. Subsequent analysis, from the trial of local data matching by 139 electoral registration officers, suggested that local data matching added an average of 6% to the overall match rate.</p><p>The results of the confirmation live run for Great Britain were included in the Commission’s recently published report on the live run in Scotland, which is also available on its website. The data for Great Britain was only available at this point as the transition to IER in Scotland began after the referendum on independence. The final match rate, after matching with DWP and local data, across Great Britain was 87%. These figures mean that overall approximately 40.5 million electors were matched.</p><p>Electoral Registration Officers are now working to target those existing electors who could not be matched, as well as those not currently on the registers at all.</p><p>The Commission will next report on the transition to Individual Electoral Registration in England and Wales in February 2015 following the publication of the registers by 1 December 2014. This report will be based on the results of our ongoing monitoring of performance as well as detailed, local authority-level data collected from EROs. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/12/2014 answer text <p /> <p>The Government is placing education at the heart of youth custody to equip young offenders with the skills, qualifications and self-discipline they need to build a life free from crime and become productive, hardworking members of the community.</p><p>As part of the Transforming Youth Custody Programme a competition is underway for new education contracts in directly managed young offender institutions which will more than double existing education provision and enable the delivery of at least 30 hours per week of education, integrated into a wider rehabilitative regime. The contracts will commence in spring 2015. This will be the first of a new generation of secure educational establishments which will put education at the heart of youth custody. If successful, it will inform our vision for the future of the youth custodial estate across England and Wales.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The Government has recently completed a public consultation on our plans for Secure College Rules. These Rules will provide the statutory framework for the effective operation of Secure Colleges. We have proposed a Rule on education which would set out a requirement for Secure Colleges to establish a minimum of 30 hours of educational activities for young people each week. This, in addition to wider activities, will help to equip young people with the skills, qualifications and self-discipline they need to lead lives free from crime. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/11/2014 answer text <p /> <p>Civil legal aid is available to help victims of human trafficking in relation to applications for leave to enter or remain in the UK, and also for claims for damages or under employment law brought by victims of human trafficking arising in connection with their exploitation. These services are set out in paragraph 32 of Schedule 1 to the Legal Aid, Sentencing and Punishment of Offenders Act 2012. Victims of human trafficking are also able to apply for any other civil legal aid service for which they are eligible.</p><p> </p><p>The Legal Aid Agency does not routinely collect information on the circumstances of applicants for legal aid, except where this is directly relevant to the application. This includes whether or not applicants are victims of human trafficking, which was not relevant to any legal aid applications before the introduction of LASPO or for services other than those described under paragraph 32 of Schedule 1 to LASPO since. Data is being collected on services provided under paragraph 32, but due to the length of time it takes for cases to conclude, we do not have a clear picture of funding since implementation of LASPO. These include a ban on CMCs offering financial rewards or similar benefits to potential claimants as an inducement to make a claim; the publication of CMCs under investigation and subject to enforcement action; key changes to the conduct rules to ensure that claims are substantiated before being pursued and any data received through telemarketing is legally obtained; the appointment of the first two independent non-executive board members to the executive-led Claims Management Regulation Board to provide a greater element of external challenge; expanding the Regulator’s enforcement tools with a new power to impose financial penalties for conduct breaches; and bringing consumer complaints against CMCs within the remit of the Legal Ombudsman.
