For example, the Government has established the Centre for Public Appointments (CPA) in the Cabinet Office to ensure best practice is followed. As a result, the proportion of new female appointees to public boards has increased to 39%. The Small Business Survey found that SMEs led by women contributed £75 billion to the economy in 2012 alone. The Women's Business Council estimate that, by equalising the labour force participation rates of men and women, the UK could further increase GDP per capita growth by 0.5 percentage points per year, with potential gains of 10% of GDP by 2030.</p><p>In November last year, the Government published its action plan on women and the economy, setting out full range of action we are taking, including extending the right to request flexible working from June and introducing Shared Parental Leave in April 2015.</p><p>We now have the highest number of women in work and in self-employment on record, the highest ever employment rate for women, and record numbers of women-led enterprises.</p> answering member constituency East Dunbartonshire answering member printed Jo Swinson question first answered 10/07/2014 15:26:48 answering member 1513 label Biography information for Jo Swinson

This database holds information on offences provided by the statutes under which proceedings are brought but not the specific circumstances of each case. It is not possible to separately identify from this centrally held information offences of sheep rustling from other offences of theft. Nor is it possible to separately identify which offences occurred on a farm. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/06/2014 answer text <p>The First-tier Tribunal (Social Security and Child Support), administered by HM Courts &amp; Tribunals Service (HMCTS), hears appeals against Department for Work and Pensions' decisions on a range of benefits, including a person's entitlement to Personal Independence Payment (PIP).</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>(1) Claimants for PIP can appeal to the Tribunal on a number of different grounds, such as the rate of benefit awarded. HMCTS is unable to isolate data relating to appeals solely on the basis of a claim for PIP having been refused. HMCTS does not, therefore, hold the specific information requested.</p><p> </p><p>Information on all appeals against PIP decisions is published by HMCTS in Tribunal Statistics Quarterly. The most recent report for the period January to March 2014, published on 12 June 2014, can be viewed at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/tribunal-statistics-quarterly-january-to-march-2014</p><p> </p><p> </p><p>HMCTS has responded strongly to continue to increase the capacity of the SSCS tribunal and reduce waiting times. Initiatives have included increasing venue capacity and recruiting additional judges and medically qualified members.</p><p>This has resulted in 545,840 appeal disposals in 2013/14. This is a 17% increase compared to 2012/13 (465,500) and a 26% increase compared to 2011/12 (433,600).</p><p> </p><p>(2) I receive regular representations on the SSCS appeals process which are taken into account as we keep the system under review. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/04/2014 answer text <p> </p><p> </p><p>Across the country, crime has fallen by more than ten per cent since June <br>2010.The latest published data from the Crime Survey for England and Wales <br>shows that the proportion of adults who were victims of crime was substantially <br>lower in rural than urban areas, and has been falling since 2009/10. According <br>to the 2012/13 Crime Survey for England and Wales, 13.4 per cent of people in <br>rural areas were victims of crime, compared with 20.1 per cent in urban areas.<br><br>However, the latest findings from the Commercial Victimisation Survey of crimes <br>against businesses, which looked at crime affecting the agriculture, forestry and <br>fishing industry, showed that there were 130,000 incidents of crime against the <br>agriculture, forestry and fishing sector in 2013, affecting just under a third <br>(30 per cent) of premises. Of the six business sectors surveyed in 2012 and <br>2013, the agriculture, forestry and fishing sector experienced the lowest rate <br>of overall crime (1,475 incidents per 1,000 premises).<br><br>The Government recognises that rural communities are vulnerable to <br>certain crimes. This applies equally <br>to crime in rural areas as it does to crime in our towns and cities and we have <br>no plans to create new central targets for reducing crime in rural areas.
