star this property answer text <p>The International Lesbian and Gay Association (ILGA) continue to recognise the UK as the highest ranking country for human rights protection of LGBT people in Europe.</p><p>The UK Government is a member of the European Network of Governmental LGBT Focal Points which enables us to disseminate good practice and insight from the UK. Other members include European Union member states.</p><p>The Marriage (Same Sex Couples) Act 2013 will recognise legally valid marriages of same sex couples formed in other European countries as legal marriages in England and Wales. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office, in liaison with the Government Equalities Office, is also carrying out an exercise to gain recognition of marriages of same sex couples formed in England and Wales overseas, including in other European Union member states.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>In April 2023, Ofcom’s <a href="https://www.ofcom.org.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0020/260147/2023-april-affordability-of-communications-services.pdf" target="_blank">Affordability Report</a> showed 6% of UK households were experiencing affordability issues with their fixed broadband services, and 8% with their mobile connectivity. For those on benefits these numbers rose to 11% in broadband and 17% in mobile.</p><p> </p><p>To support low-income households, the Government has worked with telecoms providers to ensure market provision of low-cost broadband and mobile tariffs. Social tariffs are available from 27 providers (including BT, Sky, Virgin Media, and Vodafone), across 99% of the UK and start from £10 per month.</p><p> </p><p>In June 2022, following Government negotiations, broadband and mobile operators agreed a set of public commitments to support their customers through the rise in the cost of living, including allowing those struggling with their bills to enter into affordable payment plans or switch to cheaper deals without penalty.</p><p> </p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>From 2016-2017 DFID undertook a full examination of its programmes in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPTs) to ensure that aid was being used in the most effective way, providing the best value for money to the UK taxpayer. One of the conclusions of the examination was to develop a stronger focus on the bilateral programme in-country over programmes managed from the UK, to ensure rigorous oversight of programme delivery and risk management, and to avoid duplication with existing bilateral programmes. In line with this decision, the AWEF component in the OPTs was recommended for closure.</p> more like this
