star this property answer text <p>The Government understands the importance of accessible on-board information in helping bus passengers to travel with confidence, and in Summer 2018 published a consultation on proposals to require its provision on local bus services throughout Great Britain. This follows the Government’s commitment, set out in the Inclusive Transport Strategy, to invest £2 million towards ensuring that audio visual equipment is installed on buses.</p><p> </p><p>We continue to analyse responses to the consultation and expect to announce our next steps regarding the making of Regulations and publication of guidance later in the year.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The International Labour Organisation’s Maritime Labour Convention, 2006 (MLC), which the UK ratified in 2013, provides a global framework for decent living and working conditions for seafarers. The MLC has been amended three times since then to provide measures</p><p> </p><ul><li><p>For financial support for seafarers abandoned by shipowners;</p></li><li><p>To protect seafarers against bullying and harassment; and</p></li><li><p>To ensure that employment protection remains in place throughout the period of captivity for seafarers held captive in cases of piracy or armed robbery.</p></li></ul><p> </p><p>The UK continues to take an active role in the international Committee which keeps the MLC under review and will support practical measures to improve the wellbeing of seafarers.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>The Maritime and Coastguard Agency is expecting to publish new guidance for shipowners and for seafarers on wellbeing issues later this year.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government is committed to developing an inclusive transport system which disabled people can use easily, comfortably and without additional cost, and it is essential that taxi and private hire vehicle services play their part in making this happen.</p><p> </p><p>In 2017, the Government commenced legislation to prevent wheelchair users from being refused carriage or charged extra. We expect all local licensing authorities to use the powers available to them to ensure that the service for which they are responsible is accessible to all who need it.</p><p> </p><p>We plan to undertake research to understand the reasons why wheelchair users and assistance dog owners continue to be discriminated against by a minority of taxi and PHV drivers, and the tools available to eliminate such unacceptable behaviour.</p> more like this

P&amp;O have confirmed that another vessel, the Mistral, that operated the Liverpool-Dublin route while the MV European Endeavour was undergoing a refit will continue to operate the route after the sale of the MV European Endeavor.</p><p> </p><p>P&amp;O have made a commercial decision to replace a passenger ro-ro ferry with a ro-ro cargo vessel to meet the changing demands of the freight market and particularly a rising demand for unaccompanied freight. Seafarers are required to meet the minimum standards of training as set out in the STCW Convention and no assessment is proposed to be made on the standards of seafarers operating in the Irish Sea.</p><p> </p><p>The choice of which crewing agency to employ seafarers from is a commercial decision and a matter of choice for any shipping company to make for itself. The Government does not hold data relating to which crewing agencies shipping companies use.</p><p> </p><p>There have been no recent meetings with P&amp;O where employment was discussed.</p>
