By fostering new practice, partnerships and leadership in green enterprise we want to create a legacy of long term environmental action.</p><p> </p><p>This Year of Green Action marks the start of our commitment to increase engagement with the environment and encourage behaviour that will support the achievement of our 25 Year Environment Plan goals. Our recent consultation on ‘Consistency in household and business recycling collections in England’ sought views on weekly collections of food waste collections and providing statutory guidance on minimum standards for local authorities. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 22/07/2019 answer text <p>The UK Transfrontier Shipment of Waste Regulations set out offences in relation to the shipment of waste and provide that a person found guilty of an offence can be fined and/or imprisoned for up to two years. The regulations are enforced by the UK’s competent authorities which will take appropriate action against any illegal activity.</p><p> </p><p>The UK has a robust approach to enforcing these controls. The UK environmental regulators take a pro-active, intelligence led approach to checking compliance, targeting exports which pose a high risk and intervening to stop illegal exports taking place. In 2017/18, the Environment Agency issued 158 stop notices, prohibiting the export of unsuitable waste. It stopped 367 containers of waste destined for illegal export at ports and intervened further upstream to prevent 8,974 tonnes of waste from reaching our ports.</p><p> </p><p>After exports are stopped, the costs associated with returning a waste shipment that is found to be unfit for export to the site of origin for further treatment can be a significant cost to the exporter. The EA adheres to the Procurement Policy Note regarding 'Procuring Steel in Major Projects' dated 30 October 2015. This was issued to support the UK government's commitment to implementing measures that address any barriers preventing UK suppliers of steel from competing effectively for public sector contracts. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/07/2019 answer text <p>Last December Defra and the Department for Transport (DfT) held a joint roundtable on rural bus services with a wide range of key stakeholders, exploring the issues and potential solutions for providing effective bus services in rural communities.</p><p> </p><p>The new Community Rail Development Strategy, published in November 2018, looks for ways to make it easier for the rail industry and local community rail partnerships to improve services and stations on local branch lines. Defra worked with DfT on the draft strategy and the consultation process on the strategy prior to its launch.</p><p> </p><p>The Government published its Future of Mobility: Urban Strategy in March and will be setting out thinking on the future of rural mobility in due course, to explore how the benefits of transport innovation can be enjoyed by everyone, wherever they live.</p><p> </p><p>The Government’s ambitions for the Oxford Cambridge Arc recognise that it is an area of significant strength and opportunity. We recognise that a high-quality environment is key to achieving the ambition of a more productive and connected Arc and aim to meet our economic and housing ambitions while delivering on the Government’s 25 Year Environment Plan. Defra is working closely with the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government and DfT to create sustainable places for people and wildlife, to preserve the environment for future generations.  Within the Arc, we are encouraging the constituent local authorities to be looking to develop local potential transport systems that provide convenient, clean, effective, accessible, inclusive, safe and active travel, with less congestion and better air quality.</p><p> </p><p>Oxford City Council has received £2,334,480, through the Clean Bus Technology Fund, run by Defra and DfT’s Joint Air Quality Unit.
