star this property answer text <p>The UK is currently party to a small number of trade related agreements between the EU and the US. These cover issues such as mutual recognition of conformity assessment in certain sectors. The UK has now completed work to transition these agreements to bilateral UK-US agreements. They are ready to come into effect when the UK leaves the EU.</p><p> </p><p>On 14 February 2019, the UK and US signed a Mutual Recognition Agreement (MRA) on Conformity Assessment to ensure continuity of mutual recognition in the following three sectors: good manufacturing practice for pharmaceuticals, telecommunications equipment, and electromagnetic compatibility. Other agreements, including on wine, spirits and marine equipment have been signed between the UK and US to ensure continuity as the UK leaves the EU.</p><p> </p><p>These agreements do not cover all of UK trade with the US. The US continues to be our single largest bilateral trading partner. This is why we have announced that we will prioritise a UK/US free trade agreement when we have left the EU.</p>

star this property answer text <p>HMG is continually monitoring developments in the US economy, which have a substantial influence on the global economy and directly impact on UK-US trade.</p><p> </p><p>In line with the IMF’s forecast, the Office for Budget Responsibility expects US GDP growth of 2.9 and 2.5 per cent in 2018 and 2019 respectively.</p><p> </p><p>The US is the UK’s largest trading partner and the UK’s top export destination. Our trading relationship is worth over £180bn a year including almost £112 billion in UK exports of goods and services to the US in 2018.</p> more like this

Friend the Secretary of State for International Trade has spoken on numerous occasions to the United States Trade Representative, and there have been four meetings of the UK-US Trade and Investment Working Group to date, involving discussions between representatives of the governments of the United Kingdom and the United States on a range of matters. We cannot negotiate any trade agreements whilst we are still members of the EU.</p><p>Any future trade agreements must work for UK producers, businesses, and consumers, and uphold the UK’s high levels of food safety, animal welfare standards, and environmental protection.</p> more like this

The officers build relationships with key companies, politicians and educational centres and support wider HMG goals on economic reform, market access, innovation, and climate change. star this property answer text <p>We are seeking the greatest possible barrier-free trade with our European neighbours, alongside the ability to negotiate our own ambitious trade agreements around the world.</p><p> </p><p>The US is already our largest single trading partner, accounting for around 15% of total UK trade, worth around £166bn billion in 2016. We expect the US to remain a key trading partner as we leave the EU and have already established a Trade and Investment Working Group to strengthen our bilateral trade and investment relationship.</p><p> </p><p>Close regulatory alignment with the EU could take many different forms. There may be an impact on our ability to agree ambitious regulatory elements in a future FTA with the US (i.e. to further reduce barriers to trade) should we not be able to diverge.</p><p> </p> more like this
