The Department holds regular performance meetings with Assessment Providers at local and senior levels. Assessments are independently audited and Departmental clinicians periodically observe assessments. Both providers have increased personalised clinical support to all Health Professionals. PIP Assessment Providers cost less than 4% of the total annual benefit spend on PIP.</p> more like this

Within PIP those gaps were filled through a combination of recruitment and redeployment from other areas of DWP operations.</p><p> </p><p>In addition to the 250 recruited to increase resources, the total number of people redirected onto the administrative exercises was 244.</p><p /> more like this

star this property answer text <p>As outlined in the Written Statement (<a href="https://hansard.parliament.uk/commons/2018-06-25/debates/18062515000008/PersonalIndependencePayments" target="_blank">HCWS793</a>) on 25 June 2018, the Department has begun the administrative exercise to identify claims who may be affected by the Upper Tribunal judgment in RJ, which concerned how we consider whether an activity is carried out safely considers a claimant to be carrying out an activity safely and whether they need supervision to do soconsiders a claimant to be carrying out an activity safely and whether they need supervision to do so. Since November 2017, new claims for Personal Independence Payment (PIP) have been assessed under the new guidance.</p><p> </p><p>For further information on the administrative exercise, I refer the Hon. Member to the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document that I laid in the House Library on 2 July 2018 (Deposit Reference - DEP2018-0644).</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The previous figure published by DWP was a preliminary estimate of the expected impact of implementing the judgment; we have since updated the analysis with a larger sample. The estimated impacts arising from the later sample were not as large as seen in the earlier, smaller sample. The Office for Budget Responsibility (OBR) are an independent body that provides scrutiny of departmental forecasts for fiscal events, including specific costing exercises such as this. OBR chose to publish the later, larger sample of the MH implementation costs, as this is likely to be more representative.</p> more like this
