	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/04/2019 answer text <p>Information on the numbers of cancer patients that do not access emotional support services is not routinely collected.</p><p>The NHS Cancer Programme aims to improve access to cancer Clinical Nurse Specialists (CNS) for all cancer patients when they need it, including those with secondary breast cancer. The new NHS Long Term Plan commitment is that all patients, including those with secondary cancers, will have access to the right expertise and support, including a CNS or other support worker by 2021.</p><p>Following publication of the Long Term Plan, Health Education England is working with NHS England and NHS Improvement to understand the longer-term workforce implications for further development of cancer services. My Rt. hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Health and Social Care has commissioned Baroness Dido Harding to lead a number of programmes to engage with key National Health Service interests to develop a detailed workforce implementation plan. These programmes will consider detailed proposals to grow the workforce rapidly, including staff working on cancer, consider additional staff and skills required, build a supportive working culture in the NHS and ensure first rate leadership for NHS staff.</p><p>The latest published dataset on the number of patients with secondary breast cancer is for 2016. There is a joint NHS England and GIRFT Board for the ‘Action on Vascular’ work, which is focusing on the early availability of treatments to increase lower limb circulation and reduce amputation rates.</p><p> </p><p>The NHS Long Term Plan published on 7 January commits to ensuring that hospitals provide patients with access to multi-disciplinary footcare teams and inpatient specialist nursing teams, in order to improve recovery and reduce lengths of stay and future readmissions. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 12/04/2019 answer text <p>No specific assessment has been made of the potential benefit to people with chronic pain of receiving an annual review for their pain management services.</p><p> </p><p>Whilst ultimately a matter for local processes and individual clinicians, annual reviews of patients with long term conditions or ongoing medication needs are a routine part of patient care. Annual reviews are also a key feature in guidance on the management of long-term diseases and disorders produced by the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE), such as ‘Neuropathic pain in adults’, and in clinical guidance produced by other organisations. This will be delivered in line with the NHS Comprehensive Model for Personalised Care. This will empower people to manage their care and the impact of their cancer, and maximise the potential of digital and community-based support. Over the next three years every patient with cancer will get a full assessment of their needs, an individual care plan and information and support for their wider health and wellbeing. This includes individual cases and observational trials. It is the promise shown from these observational studies and experience, from all around the world, that provides the basis for public funding of further research into the use of cannabis based products as medicines through the National Institute for Health Research. This further clinical research will provide a greater level of understanding of cannabis-based medicines, how to use them to best effect, who may benefit and under what circumstances, how cannabis interacts with other medications and define further any contraindications. It is crucial that patients have access to the most effective and innovative medicines at a price that represents value to the National Health Service. The Government fully supports the approach the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence and NHS England are adopting in the ongoing negotiations with Vertex Pharmaceuticals on access to their portfolio of cystic fibrosis medicines.</p><p> </p><p>The UK will engage constructively with the talks at the World Health Assembly to achieve the best outcome for people here and globally, including in low and middle income countries. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/06/2019 answer text <p>It is anticipated that NHS England’s new model for specialised haemoglobinopathy services will be in place by early 2020. The new model is designed to improve access to specialist advice and care for patients, irrespective of where they live.</p><p>As part of the new service, NHS England is establishing a National Haemoglobinopathy Panel to provide national multidisciplinary oversight. Patients with complex needs, wherever they live, will be able to be referred to the Panel for expert advice on new treatments and approaches to care. The national service specification will also include guidance for the 13 new born bloodspot screening programme laboratories to refer infants found to be positive for sickle cell disease to the 10 new specialised haemoglobinopathy teams. Whilst NHS England commissions the specialised aspect of haemoglobinopathy care, haemoglobinopathy coordinating centres will be encouraged to link with and support community-based services provided through primary care or community teams based within haemoglobinopathy teams.</p><p>The service specifications for the new specialised haemoglobinopathy teams and the haemoglobinopathy coordinating centres are due to be established in the next month and the associated impact assessment will be published as part of the suite of documents. The equality impact assessment indicates that it will advance the promotion of equality and support the reduction of health inequalities.
