Co-op Economy Report reveals that the number of independent co-operatives in the UK
grew by 1.2% in 2020, despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic. There
are now over 7,000 independent co-operatives, with more than 250,000 employees and
nearly 14 million UK co-operative members. These co-operatives contributed £39.7 billion
to the UK economy in 2021, up by £1.1 billion from 2020.</p>
