	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/07/2014 answer text <p>The former Health Protection Agency's Lyme Borreliosis Unit (HPA LBU) was accredited by Clinical Pathology Accreditation who had access to, and was able to review, all the standard operating procedures of the unit.</p><p> </p><p>The Trinity Biotech Lyme Western Blot is a qualitative in vitro assay for the detection of Immunoglobulin (IgG or IgM) antibodies in human samples against specific antigens/proteins of <em>Borrelia afzelii, Borrelia garinii and Borrelia burgdorferi</em>. The Trinity Biotech Lyme Western Blot is intended as a confirmatory assay for use in testing human samples which have been previously found to be positive or equivocal using an Enzyme Immunoassay and Immunofluroescent Assay or other appropriate screening method. Positive second-tier results are supportive evidence of infection with <em>B. burgdorferi</em>. The diagnosis of Lyme disease should be made based on history and symptoms (such as erythema migrans), and other laboratory data, in addition to the presence of antibodies to <em>B. burgdorferi</em>. The Trinity Biotech blot has been in use since 2007 by the former HPA’s LBU for testing cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) and proved very reliable. It has also been used in this way by other laboratories in Europe. However, CSF antibodies will not be present if there is no evidence of any other antibodies in the serum. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/07/2015 answer text <p>In order to inform his recommendations, the independent chair of the Accelerated Access Review, Sir Hugh Taylor, will be seeking views from a variety of stakeholder groups, including patients and their carers, medical charities, academics and researchers, as well as industry, the National Health Service and key arm’s length bodies such as the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence and NHS England. We have agreed a systematic engagement approach for these groups to ensure they all have the opportunity to input. A workshop involving representation from all these stakeholder groups was held on 2 July, and the review team is asking umbrella organisations and trade bodies to support it in continuing to reach a wide audience by holding a series of engagement events throughout the summer; these events are currently being planned. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 23/07/2014 answer text <p>The six years between April 2008 and April 2014 have seen a strengthening of the donation programme; increasing donation rates by 63% and transplant rates by 47%. The number of people registering for organ donation has increased by over 3 million since 2010 to over 20 million.</p><p> </p><p>A new seven year United Kingdom-wide organ donation and transplantation strategy <em>Taking Organ Transplantation to 2020: A UK strategy</em>, was published by NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) in July 2013. The strategy sets out proposed action to increase consent rates, optimise donation and increase transplants.</p><p> </p><p>NHSBT continues to raise the profile of organ donation through a number of other ways. For example, people can join the Organ Donor Register online, through Facebook, by phone, post, registering with a general practitioner, a Boots pharmacy loyalty card or when applying for a passport. More people from Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities are needed to register on the Organ Donor Register and the recently launched Peer Educator Project, sponsored by the Department, training peer educators from the Pakistani Muslim community in Birmingham, is an example of action in this area. The Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for Public Health (Jane Ellison) wrote to all Members during the National Transplant Week to raise the profile and benefits of organ donation and transplantation. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 09/07/2015 answer text <p>Healthcare in Immigration Removal Centres (IRCs) in England is commissioned by NHS England.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>Each of the IRCs has a primary healthcare service provided on site. The range of healthcare provision typically available includes initial health screening and risk assessment, including routine treatment of evident infection and active case finding for diseases commonly found among detainees including pulmonary tuberculosis, blood-borne viruses and sexually transmitted infections (if indicated by the initial assessment).</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>IRCs currently operate under the Detention Centre Rules and Operating Standards for the purposes of health screening and access to a general practitioner (GP) targets for initial healthcare screening and assessment which means all detainees to be seen by a nurse for an initial health assessment within 2 hours of admission and to be seen by a GP within 24 hours of admission (which may vary on assessment by competent nurse). Any health problems identified, tests or treatments prescribed and their outcomes are recorded on computerised health informatics systems in IRCs (e.g. SystmOne) and information can be shared between prisons and IRCs.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p>IRCs, like prisons, are required to notify Public Heath England Centres’ Health Protection Teams of cases or outbreaks of reportable diseases.
