In addition to this, local authorities undertake their own monitoring and have an obligation to review and assess local air quality and to take action where they have identified an air quality problem.</p><p> </p><p>Different airports have different obligations for monitoring and reporting air quality, with some reporting requirements necessary by law through planning obligations. Relevant Local Authorities hold this responsibility along the A12. National Highways has committed to report a litter performance indicator during the second Road Investment Strategy 2020-25. Specific regional assessments are the responsibility of National Highways and relevant local duty bodies. These works include resurfacing, barrier replacement, drainage renewal, replacing road studs and road markings and, other safety improvements.</p><p>Whilst the works are predominantly carried out during carriageway closures overnight, the 40mph speed limit is currently in place during the day to ensure the safety of road users whilst the works are still incomplete. There is a further c.£2m within the original budget to undertake the necessary work and bring the planting on the scheme into a better condition.</p><p> </p><p>National Highways conducted a review in the Autumn 2022 to analyse reasons for tree failures and inform a replanting strategy.
