star this property answer text <p>The Government is carefully considering the recommendations of the Competition and Markets Authority.</p><p>Running competitive allocation processes to drive down the costs of decarbonisation is a key part of delivering the best deal to consumers; the first competitive allocation round secured savings of about 20% against the administrative strike prices. star this property answer text <p>Ofgem ran a simplified collective switch trial between February and April this year as part of its trials to engage disengaged consumers and helping them switch to a cheaper tariff, which involved around 50,000 customers from one of the six largest energy suppliers who had been on a standard variable tariff for three years or more. Overall, 22.4% of customers in the trial switched. Ofgem plans a larger collective switching trial later this autumn.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>It is important that consumers are confident they can find the best deals on price comparison websites.</p><p>Currently all energy switching sites accredited to the Ofgem Confidence Code need to provide a comparison of all tariffs available across the market, as a default, regardless of whether the switching site has a commercial arrangement in place with the supplier.</p><p>Following a recommendation by the Competition and Markets Authority, Ofgem launched a consultation on changes to the Confidence Code so that price comparison sites could show, as a default, only those tariffs for which it receives commission, provided it also includes clear and easy access to a whole of market comparison.</p><p>Ofgem is due to publish its decision on the consultation shortly.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government is supportive of Ofgem’s interventions to make the energy retail market more competitive, for example the disengaged customer database, their customer engagement prompts and their faster and more reliable switching programme.</p><p> </p><p>Customers can save around £300 if they switch from a Standard Variable Tariff to a cheaper market alternative.</p><p> </p><p>The Government will also be working with Ofgem on a joint review of the retail market to promote competition and drive innovation.</p> more like this
