	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 26/10/2015 answer text <p>The Secretary of State hosted an international meeting on Yemen’s humanitarian crisis in New York on 28 September at which she emphasised that all parties to the conflict should facilitate unimpeded and immediate humanitarian access to all people in need in Yemen. Members of the Governments of Yemen, Saudi Arabia and other Coalition partners, amongst others, were in attendance. Their efforts to access the city and provide relief have been consistently blocked by parties to the conflict over the past month.</p><br /><p>The UK continues to call on all parties to facilitate rapid, safe and unhindered access to all people in need in Yemen. This is compounded by restrictions on imports of commercial and humanitarian supplies into the country, including fuel. This in turn is hampering the distribution of humanitarian supplies within country, including essential food and medicines.Of the 2.3 million internally displaced people in Yemen, to date UNHCR has provided emergency relief items to 147,386 of them since the end of March.</p><br /><p>The UK continues to call on all parties to facilitate rapid, safe and unhindered access to all people in need in Yemen. The UK is one of the largest donors to the crisis and has announced £75m to respond to the crisis in Yemen. UK aid is providing vital medical supplies, water, food and emergency shelter, working with trusted and impartial actors who have a strong track record in delivering assistance in difficult and dangerous places. This followed the publication of the UN report and other assessments of need that demonstrated the deterioration of the humanitarian situation.</p><br /><p>This new funding is to key partner agencies operating on the ground including the World Food Programme, UNICEF and NGOs via UN OCHA’s (Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs) Yemen Humanitarian Pooled Fund. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 16/11/2015 answer text <p>Increasing the provision of humanitarian aid to Yemen and ensuring that aid gets to those most in need has been one of the UK’s top priorities for Yemen:</p><br /><ul><li>In July the Foreign and Development Secretaries wrote to international donors to raise the profile of Yemen’s humanitarian crisis and encourage more funding to the response.</li><li>On 28 September, the Development Secretary co-hosted a side event on Yemen’s humanitarian crisis at UNGA, at which donors (including the UK) pledged an additional $129 million to Yemen. However, because of the conflict, it has been difficult for the UN to access all parts of Yemen to carry out humanitarian assessments. The UN data on the overall number of people and children in need are therefore estimates and should be treated accordingly.</p><br /><p>Over the last year, the UK has doubled its humanitarian commitment to Yemen to £75 million in 2015/16. The UK government uses this UN report as one of its primary data sources.</p><p> </p><p>The UK is the 4<sup>th</sup> largest donor to the crisis in Yemen and has more than doubled its humanitarian support over the last year to £85 million for 2015/16. The UK is funding the World Food Programme, who are supporting over 580,000 beneficiaries with food assistance.
