star this property answer text <p>The Ministry of Defence (MOD) routinely conducts contingency planning with other Government Departments for a range of eventualities. The MOD is presently working with Departments across Government to clarify the precise requirement for military support. Until that work is completed it is not possible to provide a breakdown of what percentage will comprise Regular and Reserve forces. In line with MOD's Whole Force concept, whenever a force is generated, consideration is given to the utilisation of Reserves, particularly in specialist roles, and the augmentation of existing command structures.</p> more like this

We do though provide a range of support and assistance to countries across the globe through defence engagement and financed through the Defence Assistance Fund.</p><p> </p><p>The MOD's Defence Assistance Fund supports a variety of defence engagement activities designed to provide practical help and assistance to the nations concerned, at the same time contributing to the UK's own security objectives, including by developing defence relations and increasing UK influence. Assistance may include the provision of military training and education.
