	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 06/03/2018 answer text <p>The Government recognises the life changing impact domestic abuse can have on the lives of children. We will introduce a landmark draft Domestic Abuse Bill to protect and support victims, recognise the life-long impact domestic abuse has on children and make sure agencies effectively respond to domestic abuse.</p><p>The Government is determined to tackle violence against women and girls and the Home Secretary chairs an Inter-Ministerial Group on this issue on which both the Department for Education and Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government are represented.</p><p>Through our 2015 £3.5 million fund and our 2016/18 £20 million fund for domestic abuse services, the Ministry for Housing, Communities and Local Government have funded projects to improve support for children who have experienced domestic abuse.</p><p>The Department for Education has invested around £900,000 from December 2016 to March 2018 in voluntary sector projects to address domestic abuse and its impact on children.</p><p>The Government has also invested £920 million in the Troubled Families Programme, to support up to 400,000 families with multiple high-cost problems, including domestic abuse, by 2020.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p> answering member constituency South Derbyshire answering member printed Mrs Heather Wheeler question first answered 06/03/2018 12:46:54 answering member 4053 label Biography information for Mrs Heather Wheeler

In our Priorities for Domestic Abuse Services, published in 2016, we acknowledged the importance of local authorities taking a strategic approach to provision of these vital services informed by an assessment of local need.</p><p>We are reviewing funding for domestic abuse services, including refuge, particularly the critical care and support costs. To inform our review, we have commissioned an independent, external audit of domestic abuse services. This will give us a complete picture of provision for all victims across England, enabling us to assess what impact services are having and identify any gaps in provision. The audit will report in spring 2018, and the review will be completed by summer 2018. We are committed to working closely with the sector and local authorities on the audit and overall review, drawing on their expertise and knowledge, to ensure we have a robust evidence base on which to take future decisions about the funding of these vital services.</p><p>The Spending Review 2015 announced £40 million to support victims of domestic abuse from 2016 to 2020. We were clear in the prospectus for the fund that bids from local authorities should be for long term approaches to supporting victims to ensure that each project in receipt of funding would be sustainable beyond the 2017/18 financial year.
