This phase will also include some vulnerable individuals being supported by a small number of local authorities and civil society organisations.</p><p>We will provide further details in due course of the planned phased implementation of the scheme, and we will continue to update Parliament as part of that process. Individuals who have their claim processed in detention have usually claimed asylum after being detained for removal, are detained for public protection reasons or have previously failed to comply with the UK’s immigration rules. More specifically:</p><p>The Provider shall perform the Services to meet or exceed the Performance Standards defined in the Statement of Requirements and the Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) defined within the Performance Management Regime.</p><p>Service Credits associated with Provider performance failures against the KPI targets, shall be applied by the Authority from the Contract Effective Date.</p><p>Service Credits will be applied in the event of performance failures against KPIs, at a level commensurate with the Provider’s degree of failure against the relevant KPI. All interviewing personnel receive extensive training on interviewing and considering asylum claims, and must follow published Home Office policy guidance.</p><p>Legal aid remains available for individuals claiming asylum. The Lord Chancellor is also conducting a review of the recent legal aid reforms and the Home Office is inputting into this. The Government is keen to hear from interested parties to establish the impact of these changes, and the findings will be published later this year.
