We are continuing to meet with live events stakeholders to provide support and guidance for venues to re-open and stage live events.</p><p>The Secretary of State announced an unprecedented £1.57 billion support package for the cultural sector which will benefit the live events sector by providing support to venues and many other cultural organisations to stay open and continue operating. On Monday 12 October, the Government announced an investment of £257 million in 1,385 organisations including venues, festivals, theatres, museums and cultural organisations, through the <a href="https://www.artscouncil.org.uk/news/Culturerecoveryfundawards" target="_blank">first tranche of Culture Recovery Fund: Grants programme</a>, administered by the Arts Council. Over the coming weeks further Culture Recovery Fund awards will be announced - including round two of Grants under £1 million, grants over £1 million, and the Capital Kickstart and Repayable Finance programmes.</p><p>The Chancellor has announced the Winter Economy Plan to protect jobs and support businesses over the coming months, once the existing Self-Employment Income Support Scheme and Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme come to end. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 13/10/2020 answer text <p>On 22nd August, the £3.36 million Emergency Grassroot Music Venues Fund was shared among 136 venues across England who applied for support to survive the imminent risk of collapse caused by the coronavirus pandemic.</p><p>The first independent cinemas to be funded by the BFI grants were also announced on 2nd October. In total, 42 independent cinemas across England received a share of £654,883 in funding to preserve the local cultural offer and rescue organisations at risk of insolvency. As this is a rolling fund, more funding decisions regarding cinemas will be announced over the coming weeks. Awards for cinemas can include £10k to help with safety improvements and up to £200k available for business sustainability.</p><p>On Friday 9th October 445 heritage organisations were awarded £103 million from the Culture Recovery Fund for Heritage. Grants of up to £1m will deliver a lifeline for the heritage sector in England with further support to follow and larger grants for capital projects awarded through the Heritage Stimulus Fund.</p><p>On Monday 12th October Arts Council England awarded £257 million to over 1,300 organisations which applied for less than £1 million. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/10/2020 answer text <p>In March, the government agreed a set of voluntary commitments with telecommunications providers to support and protect vulnerable consumers and those who might become vulnerable as a result of Covid-19. This included a commitment to work with customers who are finding it difficult to pay their bills to ensure that they are treated fairly and appropriately supported. The Government also brokered a deal with providers which have allowed half a million NHS staff to benefit from better connectivity, and also ensured that a number of websites, including the NHS website, are zero-rated.</p><p>My Department has been promoting the DevicesDotNow campaign, which is working with community organisations to distribute devices to vulnerable adults and help them get online. The aim is to enable elderly and vulnerable people, particularly those to who are shielding, to communicate with the outside world and get access to vital services. Over 11,000 devices have been distributed by community partners. Futuredotnow are working with their founding partners, government and industry to continue to collect devices and distribute them to the local community organisations so they are able to reach the most vulnerable during this time.</p><p>In August 2020, government introduced an entitlement to fully funded digital qualifications which mirror the existing legal entitlements for English and maths. A small number of individuals on the AA pay scale minimum received an increase of 2.5%.</p><p> </p><p><strong>2016:</strong> Following the 2015 Spending Review, DWP received limited pay flexibility for operational grades (AA-HEO) to support the transformation of its service. In the 2016 pay award 78% of staff within these operational grades received a pay uplift greater than 1% but no more than 5%. 16% of staff received an uplift of less than 1%. Grades SEO to Grade 6 (5.8% of workforce) were not included within the pay flexibility and received uplifts of 1%.</p><p> </p><p><strong>2017:</strong> The 2017 pay award resulted in 78.5% of the workforce receiving pay uplifts greater than 1% but no more than 5%.15.4% of employees received an increase of less than 1%. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 14/10/2020 answer text <p>Operation Sleeping Beauty aims to bring some theatre and Panto back by Christmas and support local theatres whilst they face a very challenging backdrop. As part of this, the National Lottery has teamed up with Qdos Entertainment for a promotional event and provided £6m of funding to support a number of panto productions to get up and running this winter across the country. This promotional activity is in addition to the ongoing support the National Lottery provides to good causes through the National Lottery Distribution Fund. Approval of National Lottery promotional spend is a matter for the Gambling Commission.
