star this property answer text <p>Work to improve outcomes for women undergoing procedures involving urethral tape and vaginal mesh is currently under way and is being led by NHS England. The Department is involved in this work alongside the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA), the specialist societies (The British Society of Urogynaecology (BSUG) and The British Association of Urological Surgeons (BAUS)) and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, Professor Sir Bruce Keogh, Medical Director, NHS England has written to the National Health Service to highlight the need to ensure that</p><p> </p><p>- National Institute for Health and Care Excellence guidance for these procedures is followed;</p><p>- consent procedures are standardised so that they comply with up to date evidence and follow BSUG and BAUS guidance;</p><p>- all pelvic organ prolapse procedures and all incontinence operations, but particularly those involving mesh, are recorded on a recognised database e.g. the BSUG or BAUS surgical databases;</p><p>- all adverse events are reported to MHRA; and</p><p>- surgery for removal of tapes or prolapse mesh or repeat surgery for incontinence or prolapse is performed in units which can demonstrate relevant specialist care.</p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>We understand that NHS England was formally consulted on the scope of the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence's (NICE) evaluation of eculizumab for atypical haemolytic uraemic syndrome. NHS England was also consulted on the evaluation consultation document, which was published on 27 February.</p><p> </p><p>Following the publication of NICE's draft guidance on eculizumab, NICE sought further advice from NHS England on what considerations relating to the management of its specialised commissioning budget it considers should be taken into account in formulating a recommendation. The response from NHS England will be considered by NICE at the next meeting of the evaluation committee.</p><p> </p> more like this

However, the survey, Adult Psychiatric Morbidity in England – 2007 found that overall, 3.0% of adults screened positive for current post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).</p><p> </p><p>The King's Centre for Military Health Research recently published ‘The mental health of the UK Armed Forces in the 21st century: resilience in the face of adversity' which also recognises that PTSD rates in the United Kingdom general population are approximately 3%.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Through the Mandate we have asked NHS England to make measurable progress towards making our health service among the best in Europe at supporting people with ongoing health problems, such as rheumatoid arthritis, to live healthily and independently, with much better control over the care they receive.</p><p> </p><p>In 2009, the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) published clinical guidance on the management of rheumatoid arthritis (RA) in adults, which set outs best practice on the diagnosis, care, treatment and support of patients. The guidance makes clear the importance of early diagnosis and is explicit that</p><p>suspected cases should be referred as an urgent priority for specialist assessment and that early initiation of treatment can prevent irreversible damage to joints.</p><p> </p><p>In addition to this, information on the diagnosis and treatment of RA can also be accessed via the NICE Clinical Knowledge summaries website at:</p><p> </p><p>http://cks.nice.org.uk/rheumatoid-arthritis</p><p> </p><p>More general information for the public can be found on the NHS Choices website at:</p><p> </p><p>www.nhs.uk/conditions/rheumatoid-arthritis</p><p> </p>
