In April 2022, the National Living Wage increased to £9.50 per hour. By 2024, the government has committed that the National Living Wage will reach 66% of median UK earnings.</p><p>No DCMS Civil Servants are paid below the UK Real Living Wage.</p><p>No DCMS Civil Servants contracted to a London office are paid below the London Living Wage.</p><p>There are 33 Public Bodies sponsored by DCMS, who are required to adhere to Civil Service pay guidance, of these four have a relatively small number of staff - between 4 and 149, who are paid below the UK Real Living Wage/London Living Wage. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 25/07/2022 answer text <p>DCMS regularly engages with industry, regulators and other government departments on the issue of nuisance communications, including unsolicited marketing communications.</p><p>Services which charge consumers for receiving text messages (premium SMS) are regulated by the Phone-paid Services Authority (PSA). In 2019, the PSA took enforcement action against companies for misleading and charging consumers for services without their consent, and introduced new rules to require a two-stage approval process before taking out a new subscription service. The PSA also extended these requirements to one-off purchases in their <a href="https://psauthority.org.uk/-/media/Files/PSA/00NEW-website/For-business/Code-guidance-and-compliance/Code-of-Practice/PSA_Code_of_Practice_15th_18-05-2022.ashx" target="_blank">2021 Code of Practice.</a></p><p>Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), organisations must not send unauthorised marketing text messages to individuals without their prior consent, and consumers must be able to opt-out of future messaging, free of charge except for the cost of the initial transmission of refusal.</p><p>If consumers are concerned about receiving unauthorised marketing texts, they can report these to the <a href="https://ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint/nuisance-calls-and-messages/" target="_blank">Information Commissioner’s Office</a>. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 19/12/2022 answer text <p>The Government is committed to cracking down on unacceptable behaviour in the ticketing market and improving people’s chances of buying tickets at a reasonable price. That is why we have strengthened the law on ticketing information requirements and introduced a criminal offence of using automated software to buy more tickets online than allowed. Ticketing sites can help fans buy and resell tickets, but they must comply with the law and should never be used as a platform for breaking it.</p><p>Enforcement agencies such as the Competition and Markets Authority, National Trading Standards and the advertising industry's own regulator, the Advertising Standards Authority, have a track record of investigating breaches of consumer law and improving transparency in the ticketing market, and are prepared to go after those who flout the law or abuse the ticketing market. The recent conviction of ticket touts for the unlawful mass reselling of Ed Sheeran tickets at inflated prices and obtained by fraudulent means, is just one example.</p><p>We do not believe that price capping is an appropriate solution at this time, as experience in other markets has shown that it would not be an effective tool to address the problem at hand, and would present significant practical challenges in implementation and enforcement. These were reviewed 12 months after they were implemented, and the results of the review were published in March 2022. It concluded that it was too soon to reach any firm view on the impact of the changes, especially during a time when the effect of the Covid pandemic made any evaluation more difficult, and that more data on annual growth of the sector was required before considering any further changes. As per the <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/news/cultural-venues-to-receive-128-million-to-improve-access-to-arts-and-culture" target="_blank">announcement</a> in May 2022, CDF rounds 3 and 4 will see up to £49.4m of further capital investment in innovative cultural and creative projects outside London over the Spending Review period 2022/23 - 2024/25.</p><p>CDF round 3 was launched in May 2022. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 20/09/2022 answer text <p>Since the report of the Leveson Inquiry was published in 2012, we have seen a fundamental reform of the self-regulatory landscape for the press, including the establishment of two new regulators, Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) and The Independent Monitor for the Press (IMPRESS). The majority of traditional publishers—including 95% of national newspapers by circulation—are members of IPSO. A small number of publishers have joined IMPRESS.</p><p>These regulators enforce codes of conduct which provide guidelines on a range of areas, including discrimination, accuracy, privacy, and harassment. Ofcom <a href="https://www.ofcom.org.uk/__data/assets/pdf_file/0028/229852/ofcom-guidance-general-condition-c1-contract-requirements.pdf" target="_blank">General Condition (c1.3) </a>requires operators to provide customers with a clear summary of their contract terms - including any elements relating to price rises - prior to final sale.</p><p>We continue to engage with the sector regarding affordability and pricing. Customers should check whether they are in their minimum contract period as they may be able to save money by negotiating with their existing provider or consider switching.
