	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 24/06/2014 answer text <p>The UK remains extremely concerned about the grave humanitarian and security situation in the Central African Republic (CAR) and is working closely with international partners and CAR's Transitional Government to bring stability to CAR and ensure the delivery of humanitarian assistance.</p><p>We welcome the announcement made by the African Union at the 10-13 June Global Summit to Ending Sexual Violence in Conflict about the deployment of a team of experts to CAR to investigate sexual violence abuses. We welcome the vital ongoing work of African Union, French and EU security forces, without whom the situation would likely be far worse. The UK will continue to work with the UN to ensure the effective deployment of the UN Peacekeeping Operation (MINUSCA), and with the AU to support MISCA's efforts ahead of the transition to MINUSCA. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 05/11/2015 answer text <p>Disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration (DDR) is essential to create the conditions for stability and security in the Central African Republic (CAR). The UN peacekeeping force in CAR, the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA), is the lead on DDR work in CAR. The UK works closely with MINUSCA to ensure it provides adequate support to CAR authorities to launch DDR in CAR.</p><p>MINUSCA has budgeted $28 million for a DDR programme aimed at what they expect will amount to 3,500 ex-Seleka fighters in total and 1,500-3,500 dependants. Through the UK’s contribution to MINUSCA, we support this vital work on pushing DDR forward in CAR.</p><p>MINUSCA is currently in the pre-DDR phase, preparing for the launch of DDR. Her Office’s investigation is ongoing and the Prosecutor will decide whether to bring any charges based on its findings. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/07/2014 answer text <p>The UK is providing £279,000 to the African Union (AU) to support the deployment of a multidisciplinary team of African experts, including medical doctors, psychologists, lawyers and police officers. The programme will be managed by the AU Mission in the Central African Republic, MISCA, through Medecins D'Afrique, a Pan-African NGO with expertise in emergency response. The programme is designed to build African capacity to tackle conflict-related sexual violence, and the UK is not providing any experts as part of the deployment. The team will track and report on allegations of sexual violence, for further action by the AU Commission and African governments. The UK has supported the planning and logistics for the European Union Force (EUFOR) in CAR, including by providing a military officer to the Operation Headquarters. We provided practical support to speed up the operation’s deployment by flying equipment and personnel to CAR. The UK also supports the ongoing EUFOR Operation by paying a proportion (14.82%) of the operation’s estimated €31.2M common costs. Further to our support to the EUFOR mission we have provided £2 million for the African-led International Support Mission to CAR (MISCA), and provided logistical support to the French (Sangaris) mission. The Inter-Religious platform in CAR is made up of Muslim and Christian leaders and has been at the forefront of peace-building and reconciliation efforts, engaging with communities that have been directly affected by sectarian violence in CAR. We welcome their efforts to promote dialogue, and have called for similar actions from CAR's transitional government.
