At the same time, as the Prime Minister made clear at the recent G7 Leaders meeting, the UK is strongly committed to tackling the two immense threats of climate change and biodiversity loss. Putting climate change and environment at the heart of our development programming is a high priority for DFID. At the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting, the UK Government committed £70 million to boost research into how to reduce the use of plastics and help countries prevent plastic waste entering our oceans. DFID is contributing up to £39 million, providing technical assistance to governments in developing countries who have committed to taking action, and testing practical approaches to increase plastic recycling rates through pilots in Bangladesh, Ghana and Uganda. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 03/10/2019 answer text <p>DFID has been liaising closely with the Government of Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) since the earthquake struck on 24 September 2019.</p><p> </p><p>Key humanitarian partners, including UN agencies, met with the NDMA to discuss the response to the earthquake on Friday 27 September.
