star this property answer text <p>The Department has not made any direct assessment of the Ralston-Semler Foundation Lumiar schools.</p><p> </p><p>The mosaic curricula the Lumiar schools have developed is a personalised project based curriculum that focuses on developing skills and competencies.</p><p> </p><p>The Education Endowment Foundation (EEF) has undertaken research on individualised instruction but has not evaluated the mosaic curricula or these schools. star this property answer text <p>The national funding formula allocates the majority of funding, 72.9%, through the basic per-pupil allowance, while protecting the funding directed towards children with additional needs, with a total spend of £5.9 billion and overall weighting of 17.8%.</p><p>Funding will be distributed according to the individual needs and characteristics of every school in the country. This will direct resources where they are needed most, and provide transparency and predictability for schools.</p><p>The attached table shows the unit values, total funding and proportion of funding for each factor in the formula.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government is supporting adults in England to develop the basic English, mathematics and digital expertise they need for future employment. This is why we provide full funding for adults to access a range of English and mathematics courses up to and including GCSE and equivalent qualifications. We are introducing a similar right to funding for specified Information and Communication Technology (ICT) courses.</p><p> </p><p>The Skills for Life Survey, 2011, estimated the literacy, numeracy and ICT knowledge of adults aged 16-64 in England, including estimates for regions and local authorities. ICT knowledge was assessed against four component elements, including word processing, emailing, spreadsheets and a multiple choice assessment of other ICT expertise such as internet use. The estimates of the numbers and percentage of the adult population with different levels for these components, for England, London, and Newham are in the attached table.</p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p><p> </p>

star this property answer text <p>The Department for Education does not collect information on the number of pupils excluded from school for the possession and supply of illegal drugs. The Department publishes information on the number of pupils excluded permanently or for a fixed period for ‘drug and alcohol’ related reasons. Guidance to schools clarifies that this category includes exclusions for alcohol abuse, drug dealing, inappropriate use of prescribed drugs, possession of illegal drugs, smoking and substance abuse.</p><p>Information showing the number of drug and alcohol related exclusions for 2008/09 to 2012/13 has been included in the attached Excel document. star this property answer text <p>Information on the number of missing incidents of looked after children in children’s homes by the location of the placement is shown in the attached table.</p><p>These statistics are experimental statistics based on data collected for the first time in 2015 and should be treated with caution as local councils’ recording of this information is improving over time. The figures are therefore not comparable between years and any assessment of trends should take this into account. The information provided does not mean that the number of children going missing is increasing in the volumes indicated in the table.</p><p>Local councils have improved their reporting of missing incidents through increased collaboration with partner organisations and carers, updated recording systems, and further training for carers to improve understanding of reporting processes.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Data on the proportion of maintained secondary schools who spent more than their income over the last seven years is published in the ‘Statistical First Release LA and school expenditure: 2015 to 2016 Financial Year’. The specific data can be found in Table 5 of the spreadsheet which is attached.</p><p> </p><p>In 2015-16 the total revenue balance across all local authority maintained schools was £2.1 billion. This amounts to an average revenue balance in each local authority maintained school of £124,000, which equates to 7.5% on their total revenue income. Between 2010-11 and 2015-16 average revenue balance in all local authority schools rose by £33,647, a rise of 37%.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>As part of our strategy to increase further the number of pupils being taught in good or outstanding schools since January 2012, we have re-brokered the attached list of 318 academies to new trusts. Re-brokerage can happen for a number of reasons such as a result of intervention action by the Regional School Commissioner, a single academy trust seeking to join or set up a multi academy trust, or a sponsor deciding to hand back an academy because it no longer has the capacity to run it. We are committed to publishing the costs of individual re-brokerages cases on gov.uk in due course.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The table in the attachment provides a list of all schools that attract funding through the minimum per pupil factor, which ensures that secondary schools will attract at least £4,800 per pupil, and primary schools £3,500 per pupil by 2019-20, under the national funding formula. The table also shows how much additional funding, each school attracts through this factor.</p><p> </p><p>The table is calculated as if the national funding formula had been implemented in full in 2017-18, with no transitional arrangements. The figures are based on financial year 2017-18 Authority Proforma Tool data for local authority maintained schools and on academic year 2017-18 General Annual Grant data for academies and free schools.</p> more like this
