star this property answer text <p>Before April 1975, there was no legal requirement for a pension scheme to preserve pension rights for those who left service before reaching the normal retirement age.</p><p>The issue of pre-1975 pensions does not just affect the Armed Forces but is common to all other public service schemes in existence prior to the Social Security Act 1973.</p><p>It has been the policy of successive Governments not to make retrospective changes to pension schemes.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Armed Forces Day provides an opportunity for the nation to show their support for the Armed Forces. Events are community-led and can come in many different forms, from the National Event through to local events organised by councils, ex-service organisations, community groups and schools. These events can be followed on Twitter using #SaluteOurForces.</p><p>The Department has received a number of bids to host the 2019 National Event, including from Scarborough Borough Council. Defence officials are now engaged in a selection process to determine which candidate location is best placed to bring together the whole nation in celebrating our Armed Forces in 2019.</p> more like this

No Service family are obligated to accept a home below this standard.</p><p>Of the properties assessed 96% are now at or exceed the Decent Homes Standard.</p><p>The vast majority of properties below decent homes standard are vacant and will not to be allocated to Service families. A very small minority are large listed buildings which nevertheless fall under the category of Service Family Accommodation.</p> more like this
