star this property answer text <p>We are deeply concerned by the persecution of religious minorities in Pakistan.</p><p>On 24 February I raised UK concerns about the blasphemy law with a group of visiting Pakistani parliamentarians.</p><p>The Foreign Secretary also discussed Pakistan’s blasphemy laws with Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in November 2014.</p><p>We will continue to support all efforts in promoting religious tolerance and freedom of speech in Pakistan, and call for perpetrators of human rights abuses to be brought to justice.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Ministers and senior officials raised Mr Andree’s case with the Saudi Government repeatedly since he completed his sentence in August 2015.</p><p>I am pleased to be able to say that yesterday morning the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, my righ hon. Friend the Member for Runnymede and Weybridge (Mr Hammond) was informed that the public prosecutor is now in the final stages of completing the necessary processes that will lead to Mr Andree’s release and return to the UK. We expect this to be within the next week.</p><p>In regard to extradition arrangements, Home Office Ministers and officials have meetings with a wide variety of international partners, as well as organisations and individuals in the public and private sectors, as part of the process of policy development and delivery.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Ministry of Defence (MOD) is currently the single largest deliverer of apprenticeships in the UK, with over 20,000 personnel engaged on a nationally recognised apprenticeship programme at any one time and over 90 per cent of our non-commissioned military recruits offered an apprenticeship on the back of their trade training.</p><p> </p><p>As at 31 October 2018, the number of apprenticeship enrolments since 2015 for the Armed Forces are as follows:</p><p> </p><p>Royal Navy: 9,136</p><p> </p><p>Army: 30,321</p><p> </p><p>Royal Air Force: 5,852</p><p> </p><p>The MOD has made good progress in meeting its Government target of 50,000 enrolments by 2020.</p><p> </p><p>The MOD does not currently hold the information in the requested format.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Our Ambassador to Tel Aviv met senior officials from the Israeli National Security Council on 21 June and raised planning issues, including relating to the Bedouin in Area C of the West Bank. In May, our Embassy raised our serious concerns about the potential forcible transfer of the Bedouin in E1 and other parts of Area C and the Israeli Supreme Court’s ruling approving the demolition of the West Bank village Susiya with the Head of COGAT (Israel’s Coordinator of Government Activities in the Territories’), and senior officials from the Israeli National Security Council.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>We condemn the demolition of Bedouin homes at Jabal Al-Baba, which is a particularly vulnerable community in East Jerusalem. We are extremely concerned at the large increase in demolitions in the Occupied Palestinian Territories since the start of 2016, compared to the monthly average in 2015. The Foreign Secretary, my Rt Hon. Friend the Member for Runnymede and Weybridge (Mr Hammond) has not specifically discussed this issue with his counterpart. However, our Embassy in Tel Aviv continues to raise our concern about demolitions regularly with the Israeli authorities, most recently on 15 May. We call on Israel to provide a legal route for Palestinians to obtain building permits.</p> more like this

This includes ensuring that all adults who work with children are required to undergo mandatory security and background checks, are subject to rigorous disclosure procedures and receive regular safeguarding training. We encourage anyone who has been a victim, or knows someone who has, to report it to the police.</p><p> </p><p>The cadet organisations have comprehensive reporting procedures in place to ensure that when they are made aware of an incident it is acted upon immediately; any allegation involving possible criminal activity is reported to the appropriate authorities for investigation. Background checks are undertaken for all Adult volunteers and unlike many other youth organisations, the checks are redone or updated every five years. Whilst each Cadet Headquarters has safeguarding expertise and can provide advice, victims of past abuse are directed to the various professional organisations e.g. the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children, who specialise in this type of support.</p><p> </p><p>In the period 2012 – June 2017, 363 abuse allegations were made to the MOD of which 282 were referred to the police. Information on the number of prosecutions would be held by the relevant individual police forces. The MOD does not hold this detail.</p><p> </p>
