star this property answer text <p>At the beginning of the COVID-19 outbreak, we recognised there would be a need for additional mental health support for all National Health Service staff. We commissioned NHS England to develop a comprehensive emotional, psychological and practical support package for all NHS staff in addition to existing support that is already available.</p><p>NHS England and NHS Improvement launched the support package on 8 April 2020 and it includes a helpline and text service for counselling and support, a dedicated bereavement helpline, and a range of well-being apps. All the support available can be accessed via the following link:</p><p><a href="https://people.nhs.uk/help/" target="_blank">people.nhs.uk/help/</a></p><p>The NHS is continuing to update the support available in this package, in line with the feedback they receive.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Department continues to monitor overall staffing levels across the National Health Service (NHS), and we are working across Government to ensure there are sufficient staff to provide a high-quality service. We have committed to deliver 50,000 more nurses in the National Health Service This will help support the 1.4 million people who make up the NHS workforce and address the longstanding NHS nursing shortages that were identified in the Interim NHS People Plan. star this property answer text <p>National Health Service trusts are responsible for ensuring that appropriate mental health support and provision is in place for all of their staff, including those on neonatal intensive care units. Mental health support services provided by trusts could include access to occupational health services, employee assistance programmes, confidential counselling helplines, processes for open sharing of experiences, crisis and trauma response provision and team and peer support structures.</p><p>The Department is supporting them in this through the NHS staff health and wellbeing framework and NHS Improvement’s NHS staff health and wellbeing collaborative. Both incorporate the mental health standards in ‘Thriving at Work – a review of mental health and employers’ produced by Mind.</p> more like this

At the beginning of the COVID-19 response, the Department commissioned NHS England and NHS Improvement to develop a comprehensive package of emotional, psychological, and practical support for all NHS staff. NHS England and NHS Improvement launched the support package on 8 April 2020 which can be accessed via the following link:</p><p><a href="https://people.nhs.uk/help/" target="_blank">people.nhs.uk/help/</a></p><p>Development of the support package has been informed by both the experiences of NHS staff contacting the national telephone and text service, as well as expert advice and research into mental health needs following major incidents. The support package will continue to be updated by listening to feedback from NHS staff who use the services, including how COVID-19 response has affected them.</p><p> </p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>NHS England and NHS Improvement have developed a comprehensive package of mental health support for National Health Service staff, including virtual staff common rooms for mutual support, free access to a range of well-being apps and a helpline and text service for counselling and support. Last autumn, £30 million was invested to strengthen mental health and occupational health support. This funding is being used to set up mental health hubs that will provide outreach and assessment services to help staff receive rapid access to mental health services. Staff referred will be treated by local mental health specialists and those with severe needs will be referred to a specialist centre.</p> more like this
