	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 01/09/2014 answer text <p>It was reported in May 2014 that a Bahai’i cemetery in Shiraz, where over 950 Baha’is are buried, was destroyed – there have been a number of similar such incidents in recent years. As well as the threat of imprisonment, Baha’is continue to face ongoing harassment and discrimination.</p><p>The UK works closely with the UN Special Rapporteur on Human Rights in Iran, Dr Ahmed Shaheed, who’s most recent report of March 2014 addressed the plight of Baha’is and other religious minorities in the country. The UK’s non-resident Chargé d’Affaires to Iran discussed freedom of religion and other Human Rights issues with the Iranian authorities during his visit to Iran in March 2014. My hon. More than 200 people have reportedly been executed in 2014, with many more prisoners on death row at risk of imminent execution. The most recent (August 2014) figures from Human Rights Watch suggest that there are an estimated 895 political prisoners/prisoners of conscience in detention across the country. Freedom of expression continues to be suppressed with widespread Internet censorship, the continuing closure of media outlets and systematic targeting of journalists and bloggers. In May 2013, the upper house of the Iranian Parliament adopted a new Islamic Penal Code, which continues to criminalise sex between adults of the same sex. The punishments can range from 100 lashes to the death penalty for both men and women. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 15/10/2014 answer text <p>The EU has an extensive sanctions regime against Iran, including an oil embargo and severe restrictions on the Iranian financial sector. In December 2012, the EU added further measures, including trade in raw metals and the import of Iranian natural gas. As a result of the Joint Plan of Action, agreed between Iran and the E3+3, the EU agreed to suspend sanctions on trade in petrochemicals, gold and precious metals and not to impose any new sanctions for the duration of the agreement. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 30/10/2014 answer text <p>The UK welcomed President Rouhani’s comments in 2013 that all Iranians, including religious minorities, should “feel justice.” Unfortunately, there has been little noticeable change in the approach taken by Iran’s security and judicial authorities.</p><p><br>The Iranian Constitution recognises only three religious faiths other than Islam: Judaism, Christianity and Zoroastrianiam. Christians nevertheless continue to face discrimination; Evangelical Christians, Iranian converts to Christianity and those involved in house churches have been particularly affected. Other minority religious groups have faced similar treatment, and the Baha’i faith – which is unrecognised in Iran - has been particularly discriminated against.</p><p><br>The UK has repeatedly called on the Iranian government to end all persecution of individuals on the basis of their faith.
