The Government is investing £23bn in a National Productivity Investment Fund targeted at building economic infrastructure and boosting innovation. star this property answer text <p>Treasury ministers regularly discuss the opportunities of new technologies with Cabinet colleagues.</p><p> </p><p>To boost research into and development of new technologies, we have increased support for in R&amp;D to the highest level in 30 years (probably ever) through raising investment and increasing the main rate of R&amp;D tax credits.</p><p> </p><p>At Budget, we committed over £75 million to support the development and deployment of Artificial Intelligence in the UK, which has immense potential to increase productivity.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The government continues to believe that raising productivity is the best route to driving growth and raising long run living standards, as set out in “Fixing the foundations: Creating a more prosperous nation” - a plan for productivity growth in the UK. The government has since taken further steps, including the establishment of a National Productivity Investment Fund targeted at the productivity-critical areas of transport, R&amp;D, housing and digital communications. It is also making sure that young people have the skills that British businesses need through the reform of the technical education system and the introduction of T-levels.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Road Investment Strategy provides certainty about road investment ensuring more efficient operation and faster delivery for the English strategic road network. It sets out the vision and investment plan for a five year period from 2015 to 2020, encouraging the supply chain to invest and innovate from the long term certainty that this provides. Highways England is responsible for delivering the strategy and has been set a series of demanding targets by Government, which is regularly assessed, including independent monitoring by the Office of Rail and Road.</p><p>The combination of the measures will save the taxpayer £1.2 billion in the next 5 years and at least £2.6 billion over ten years. It also means clearer accountability and greater transparency, providing better assurance on the investment of public money.</p> more like this
