star this property answer text <p>The RAF is playing a full part in on-going Coalition air support to operations around Fallujah. UK personnel have already made a key contribution to building the capacity of Iraqi security forces by training over 14,200 troops in countering improvised explosive devices, medical and infantry skills. The additional trainers that my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Defence announced on 30 June (HCWS50) will help train further Iraqi forces to assist them in consolidating their recent gains in Anbar province.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>I can confirm that there have been no unauthorised incursions by Russian military aircraft into UK sovereign airspace in the last twelve months.</p><p>There have been three authorised Treaty inspection flights by Russian military An-30b aircraft in UK airspace under the auspices of the multi-national Open Skies Treaty. On each occasion the UK received advance notice of the aircraft's arrival and it was hosted for the duration of its mission at RAF Brize Norton.</p><p>For information on Russian naval assets entering UK territorial waters I refer the hon. star this property answer text <p>The Government is fully committed to helping communities respond to the structural changes underway in our town centres. Since 2010 we have provided a total of £18.26 million, including support for Portas Pilots and town teams, business improvement districts and for markets.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, in late 2013 we introduced a £1 billion business rate support package for 2014-15 including:</p><p> </p><ul><li>a 2% cap in the Retail Price Index increase in the small business rates multiplier;</li><li>a retail discount of £1,000 for around 300,000 shops, pubs and restaurants with rateable values below £50,000;</li><li>a 12 month extension of small business rate relief doubling, benefitting over half a million businesses; and</li><li>a 50 per cent discount for new occupants of long-term vacant shops.</li></ul><p> </p><p>All of these measures apply to England. The devolved administrations will have taken forward plans for their areas.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Government is fully committed to helping communities respond to the structural changes underway in our town centres. Since 2010, we have helped create over 360 town teams, including 27 Portas Pilots. We have funded successful initiatives such as ‘Love your Local Market’ and the Great British High Street Portal and awards. We have strengthened the role of Business Improvement Districts, introduced new permitted development rights and are tackling aggressive parking enforcement.<br><br>In addition, approximately 600,000 businesses are benefitting from Small Business Rate Relief with approximately 400,000 paying no rates at all.</p><p> </p><p>We announced at the 2014 Autumn Statement an extra £650 million of support for 2015-16 business rates bills in England, bringing the total support from 2013 and 2014 Autumn Statement measures to £1.4 billion in 2015-16. That includes amongst other things:</p><p> </p><ul><li>doubling Small Business Rate Relief for a further year (2015-16);</li><li>increasing the temporary discount for shops, pubs and restaurants with rateable values below £50,000 from £1,000 to £1,500 for 2015-16.</li></ul><p> </p><p>Over half of the £1.4 billion package will go to retail.</p>

This package included a number of air Intelligence, Surveillance, Target Acquisition and Reconnaissance (ISTAR) capabilities. star this property answer text <p>Russian military aviation has never entered British Sovereign Airspace without permission.</p><p>The RAF has identified, intercepted and escorted Russian military aircraft transiting through international airspace in the vicinity of the UK. Russian military flights can present a potential safety concern to other airspace users because of their practice of not communicating with air traffic control agencies with regard to their intentions, not filing a flight plan or not transmitting a recognisable secondary surveillance radar transponder code. Their activity therefore needs careful monitoring, which is why we intercept such flights.</p><p>The UK works closely with our Allies to keep NATO's airspace safe and secure and to enable a co-ordinated NATO air policing response.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>Our Intimidation Policy supports all local staff, regardless of role or employment duration, who may be facing security risks as a result of their work with British Forces. The UK is the only nation with a permanent team in country to address the concerns of those worried about their safety, including trained police officers to investigate reported intimidation incidents. These experts thoroughly and professionally investigate all claims of intimidation and have provided support to some 300 former local staff. This support has included bespoke security advice and financial support for some 30 relocations within Afghanistan.</p> more like this

Rules of Engagement (ROE) are Operation not Service specific and set out the legal and policy constraints within which all UK forces must work. UK forces receive mandatory training in order to ensure that they understand the responsibilities and obligations placed on them by ROE profiles and UK and international law.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <br /><br /><p>The UK currently has 20 Armed Forces personnel deployed in Mogadishu, Somalia. Those personnel are supporting a range of UN and EU Missions to provide training, mentoring, and logistical support to the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMISOM), and develop the Somali National Army. The purpose of those Missions, and therefore our support, is to counter the terrorist threat from Al Shabaab and achieve security and stability within Somalia and the wider East Africa region. The total UK deployment includes a Defence Attache and Assistant DA at the British Embassy in Mogadishu.</p><br /><br /> more like this
