star this property answer text <p>The Government understands the importance of accessible on-board information in helping bus passengers to travel with confidence, and in Summer 2018 published a consultation on proposals to require its provision on local bus services throughout Great Britain. This follows the Government’s commitment, set out in the Inclusive Transport Strategy, to invest £2 million towards ensuring that audio visual equipment is installed on buses.</p><p> </p><p>We continue to analyse responses to the consultation and expect to announce our next steps regarding the making of Regulations and publication of guidance later in the year.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The legislation that provides for licensing of taxi and private hire vehicle (PHV) services is enabling in its nature, giving licensing authorities the discretion to set standards that they deem to be appropriate including language skills. star this property answer text <p>The Department for Transport published an impact assessment (IA), which analysed the potential costs and benefits of the Bus Services Bill proposals. The IA can be accessed from the gov.uk website - <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/bus-services-bill-impact-assessments" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/bus-services-bill-impact-assessments</a>.</p><p> </p><p>The actual costs and benefits will depend on how franchising is implemented at the local level, and the Bill requires any authority wishing to pursue franchising to produce an assessment of its proposed scheme, which will include consideration of whether the authority would be able to afford the scheme and whether it would represent value for money.</p> more like this
