Since 2015, we have committed more than £4bn to maintain and improve the condition of the school estate, including £1.4bn in 2017-18. Where remedial work is deemed necessary for schools to remain safe for continued use, we will work with local authorities and other responsible bodies to ensure that lack of financial resources will not prevent it going ahead.</p><p>The two academies where ACM cladding has been identified have been alerted to the test results. As a precautionary step, both schools have already been inspected by the Fire and Rescue Service who confirmed appropriate measures are in place to mitigate the risks from potential fire, and the buildings have now been declared safe for continued use.</p><p>The Department for Education is continuing to work closely with the schools concerned to support them and ensure all the necessary steps are taken to ensure the continued safety of the buildings.</p><p>All schools already have to follow a range of strict fire safety regulations designed to ensure they are as safe as possible and well prepared in the event of a fire. This includes a requirement that ‘parents should be able to look at a set of arrangements and understand easily how places for that school will be allocated’. We consider that the code provides clear advice to all admission authorities.</p><p>Compliance is enforced by the Schools Adjudicator. Where an objection is made and the adjudicator finds that the arrangements are unclear, unfair, or that they otherwise fail to comply with the code, the admission authority is required by law to change the policy.</p><p>The degree to which maintained schools comply with the code is monitored through the Chief Adjudicator’s Annual Report. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 18/10/2016 answer text <p>The Education Policy Institute (EPI) report, ‘<em>Teacher workload and professional development in England’s secondary schools: insights from TALIS’, </em>uses data based on the 2013 Teaching and Learning International Survey (TALIS) which was published in June 2014. We have already taken extensive action based on this survey and other evidence.</p><p> </p><p>Through the Workload Challenge, launched in October 2014, we asked teachers to share their experiences, ideas and solutions on how to tackle unnecessary and unproductive workload. We published the <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/415874/Government_Response_to_the_Workload_Challenge.pdf" target="_blank">response to the Workload Challenge</a> in February 2015. This included a comprehensive programme of action to help address the complex issues that were raised.</p><p> </p><p>In addition, we established three new groups to address the three biggest concerns that teachers raised in the Workload Challenge - ineffective marking, use of planning and resources and data management</p><p> </p><p>We published their <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/reducing-teachers-workload/reducing-teachers-workload" target="_blank">reports</a> on 26 March. They were welcomed by the sector and the report from the EPI is clear that the department is right to focus on these areas. The groups set out clear principles about what should happen in schools, and made recommendations to be taken at every level in the school system.</p><p>We have accepted all the recommendations for Government. However, as the reports make clear, it is for everybody involved in education to act on the principles and recommendations in these reports.</p><p>We are continuing to work with teachers and their representatives on how to effectively embed the principles in the reports, and help make a culture change so teachers can focus on teaching and not unnecessary bureaucracy and paperwork.</p><p>We have also conducted the first biennial Teacher Workload Survey, a commitment from the Workload Challenge. The report is due to be published later this year.
