Rail use is at its highest level since the 1920s: 1.65 billion passenger journeys were made in Great Britain on franchised passenger trains in 2014-15. The Department will review the effectiveness of the provision of alternative services with Chiltern Railways in due course. Chiltern advised that 48,000 additional seats were provided during the West Coast Main Line blockade period. West Coast passengers from Bolton, Warrington and Crewe were permitted to travel via Birmingham on the Chiltern route.</p> more like this

Most of these are designed to enable web users to use perform a transaction, such as to book a driving theory test. star this property answer text <p>We want to strengthen the rights of rail passengers to get compensation for poor service. The Consumer Rights Act will allow rail passengers to challenge compensation amounts awarded for delays and cancellations where the train operator is at fault.</p><p> </p><p>Train operators’ existing compensation schemes will continue to provide the main means of redress for passengers after 1 October 2016, when the Act comes into force for all transport providers. We will continue to work with train operators to improve their compensation schemes.</p> more like this
