	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/11/2018 answer text <p>The Government is committed to tacking the scourge of modern slavery and supporting those affected by this crime.</p><p>In 2017, Home Office Ministers agreed a comprehensive package of reforms to the National Referral Mechanism, which included the introduction of places of safety for those leaving situations of exploitation, trebling the period of move on support to assist victims moving out of government funded support and aligning the subsistence rates paid to potential victims of modern slavery with those received by asylum seekers.</p><p>In light of the judgment in K and AM, we are currently putting in place processes to ensure that those who have been affected receive a full back payment as soon as possible. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 07/02/2019 answer text <p>In local authorities where the Independent Child Trafficking Advocate (ICTA) service has been rolled out, all children that are potential victims of trafficking are eligible for support.</p><p><br>The ICTA service was rolled out in three early adopter sites in Greater Manchester, Hampshire and Wales in January 2017 with an additional £2m invested to expand the ICTA provision into West Midlands, East Midlands and Croydon. This will mean the service will be available in one third of all local authorities by April 2019.</p><p>Unaccompanied children are looked after by the relevant local authority and are entitled to the same services as any other looked after child. Under these arrangements, unaccompanied children will have a professional social worker and an independent reviewing officer to oversee their care arrangements. All unaccompanied asylum-seeking children in England are referred to the Refugee Council’s Children’s Panel and they are also entitled to legal assistance in pursuing their asylum claim. The Government believes that these arrangements ensure unaccompanied children are provided with the independent support and advice that they need.</p><p><br>Section 48 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015, which makes provisions for ICTAs, is being considered in the Independent Review of the Modern Slavery Act led by Frank Field, Baroness Butler-Sloss and Maria Miller. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 28/03/2019 answer text <p>In April 2018, the Government published the Serious Violence Strategy which sets out a comprehensive set of 61 commitments and actions we are taking to tackle violent crime. This includes launching a £22m Early Intervention Youth Fund, which is already supporting 29 projects in England and Wales; a national knife crime media campaign: #knife free; a new National County Lines Coordination Centre and the Offensive Weapons Bill, which will strengthen legislation on firearms, knives and corrosive substances. <br>On 2 October 2018, the Home Secretary announced further important measures including a consultation on new legal duty to support a multi-agency approach to preventing and tackling serious violence, a new long term £200 million Youth Endowment Fund and an Independent Review of Drug Misuse.</p><p>Most recently, on 13 March, the Chancellor of the Exchequer announced an additional £100 million of funding for serious violence in 2019/20. This funding will directly support the police’s immediate response to the rise in serious knife crime, as well as supporting investment in Violence Reduction Units, which will bring together a range of agencies including health, education, social services and others to develop a multi-agency approach to preventing serious violence altogether. It is important that we recognise that greater law enforcement on its own will not reduce serious violence and that we must continue to focus on prevention.</p><p>With specific reference to Barnsley and the Sheffield City Region, we have awarded almost £1.25m from the Early Intervention Youth Fund to the Police and Crime Commissioner for South Yorkshire in support of two projects, one of which is working in Barnsley and the other in Sheffield. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 08/04/2019 answer text <p>We are identifying more victims than ever before; 6,993 potential victims were referred into the NRM in 2018, a 36% increase on the 2017 referrals.</p><p><br>We are working to continue to improve identification. As part of the package of reforms to the National Referral Mechanism, the Home Office is leading a multi-agency review to determine how to strengthen training for First Responders on identifying and supporting victims.</p><p><br>Through the reform programme of the NRM we have already improved the support victims receive. In February 2019, we extended the move-on period of support. These assessments are used to evaluate what kind of support services an individual requires during their outreach support.</p><p>There is no assessment of eligibility as both accommodation and outreach are available to any individual referred into the NRM. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/06/2019 answer text <p>In October 2017, the Government announced an ambitious package of reforms to the National Referral Mechanism (NRM), which were developed following the 2014 Oppenheim Review, an 18-month pilot testing alternative decision-making processes, and extensive stakeholder consultation.</p><p>Adults identified in the NRM can receive specialist and tailored support through the Victim Care Contract, where they can receive accommodation, financial support, assistance in accessing mental and physical health care including counselling, and access to legal support.</p><p>Through robust contract management we ensure the safeguarding of victims of modern slavery. The prime contractor for the Victim Care Contract, The Salvation Army, is responsible for ensuring that all subcontracted provision meets the needs of victims. The Salvation Army conducts regular safeguarding reviews and it has a duty to escalate to the Home Office any safeguarding concerns that it finds.
