star this property answer text <p>The Challenger 3 prototypes will be delivered through 2023 and <del class="ministerial">2024</del><ins class="ministerial">early 2025</ins> for use in demonstration trials. Once the design has been proven it is currently planned that the Challenger 3 tanks will be delivered to the Army from 2027, with Full Operating Capability delivered by 2030. star this property answer text <p>For the Batch 1 Type 26 frigates, almost 50 per cent by value of the steel is UK sourced. <del class="ministerial">Steel has not yet been purchased for the Batch 2 ships</del>. <ins class="ministerial">Approximately 994 tonnes of steel was purchased for the first Batch 2 ship, HMS Birmingham, in 2022 and 25 per cent of this steel was produced in the UK.</ins></p><p> </p><p>Steel for the Type 31 frigates is sourced by Babcock from UK-based stockists. Both the Type 26 and Type 31 classes require the use of thin plate steel and this specification of steel with the required combination of thickness, size and flatness is not manufactured in the UK.</p><p> </p><p>Steel for our major defence programmes is generally sourced by our prime contractors from a range of UK and international suppliers and is procured in accordance with Cabinet Office guidelines. We encourage the sourcing of UK steel wherever it is technically and commercially feasible.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>The Ministry of Defence (MOD) fully recognises that the provision of safe, good quality and well-maintained accommodation is essential to operational output, and providing such accommodation is one of the MOD’s top priorities.</p><p> </p><p>In the last seven years, MOD has invested more than £936 million in Service Family Accommodation (SFA) improvements. Currently, just under 97% of MOD SFA meet or exceed the Government’s Decent Homes Standard. Only these properties are allocated to Service families.</p> more like this

Our current Armed Forces Code of Practice for Victims of Crime will be retained in law and updated to reflect provisions for civilians, adapted where necessary for the Service environment. star this property answer text <p>The Defence and Security Public Contracts Regulations 2011 (DSPCR) will be revoked once the new procurement regime under the Procurement Bill, which includes Defence provisions and is currently going through Parliament, comes into effect.</p><p> </p><p>To prevent a gap in statutory procurement regulation arising from the 'sunset' clause in the Retained EU Law (REUL) Bill revoking the DSPCR and other procurement regulations before the procurement regime under the Procurement Bill comes into effect, the DSPCR, along with the other public procurement regulations, will be saved using the powers in the REUL Bill. This allows the current procurement regulations to continue to apply until the new procurement regime is ready.</p> more like this
