star this property answer text <p>Around 10% of successful applicants for Tax-Free Childcare are self-employed or have a partner who is self-employed.</p><p> </p><p>As of 28 November approximately 53,000 childcare providers have successfully signed up to receive Tax-Free Childcare payments.</p><p> </p><p>The analysis set out in the Impact Assessment for Tax Free Childcare, published in March 2017, drew upon a range of data including data published by the Department for Education. The assessment can be found at: <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/652939/Tax-free_childcare_Impact_Assessment-March_2017.pdf" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/652939/Tax-free_childcare_Impact_Assessment-March_2017.pdf</a>.</p><p> </p><p>In response to the questions about the relationship with National Savings and Investments, and the performance of their delivery partner Atos, I refer the honourable member to my response to Parliamentary Question (105683) on 16 October.</p><p> </p><p>In response to the questions about the criteria for measuring the success of Tax-Free Childcare and the link between the introduction of Tax-Free Childcare and the cost and demand for childcare, I refer the honourable member to my response to Parliamentary Question (107892) on 24 October.</p><p> </p><p>The costs of delivering Tax-Free Childcare are currently within budget.</p><p> </p><p>HMRC will gradually open Tax-Free Childcare to parents of older children and all eligible parents will be able to apply by the end of March 2018. Childcare vouchers will then be closed to new entrants as planned.</p>

star this property answer text <p>Her Majesty’s Revenue and Customs (HMRC) fully appreciates the sensitivities in this area and has been thorough in taking data protection issues into account. HMRC is satisfied that its process does not breach the Data Protection Act in any way.</p><p>The award notice and other written products sent to tax credits claimants simply show the children on the claim and the number of children for whom Child Tax Credit is being paid.</p><p>For example, in an award where the individual element of the Child Tax Credit is being paid for three children (where one child was born on or after 6 April 2017 and qualifies for an exception) the award notice will show all three children on the claim, and that HMRC is paying for all three children. The award notice will not state the reason for the exception.</p> more like this

star this property answer text <p>For both Child Benefit and Child Tax Credit (CTC), the law provides for one person – the person mainly responsible for the child – to receive the payments. It works on the basis that one person will always have a greater share of responsibility than another.</p><p> </p><p>Where parents separate, it is possible for them to jointly agree who should receive Child Benefit and CTC and for which child. Where parents cannot agree who should receive Child Benefit and CTC and make rival claims, the decision about who is entitled to such support is taken by HM Revenue &amp; Customs (HMRC). HMRC considers all the facts in relation to each parent’s responsibility for the child, based on the information provided by both parents.</p> more like this
