This will include those acts targeted on the basis of being transgender. This will go for pre-legislative scrutiny by a joint committee. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 11/01/2023 answer text <p>When commenced, the reasonable adjustments to common parts duty under the Equality Act 2010 (the 2010 Act) will require landlords to make reasonable adjustments to the communal or shared areas of residential properties, when requested to do so by a qualifying disabled resident. Outdoor areas such as car parks are within the scope of the provision and therefore, if the request for a designated parking bay is reasonable, this would be a required adaptation under section 36 of the 2010 Act, once fully commenced.</p><p>The parking concessions provided under the Blue Badge Scheme only apply to on-street parking and not to off-street car parks. Currently, both local authorities and private parking operators are already required under the 2010 Act to make reasonable adjustments for disabled people and to provide them equal opportunities to access services. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 29/01/2024 answer text <p>We recognise the sensitivity of these situations, particularly when family and friends are dealing with the loss of a loved one. The Gender Recognition Act (GRA) 2004 provides for people to change their legal gender. Those who have undergone this process and acquired a Gender Recognition Certificate (GRC) before the time of their death will, of course, be recognised in their new gender.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>Without undergoing the process of legal gender recognition and acquiring a GRC under the provisions laid out in the GRA 2004, a person has not legally changed gender. Therefore they would not be recognised in their new gender upon the unfortunate event of their death. That said, where a person was using their new gender with an organisation prior to their death, and that was on their personal records, then we anticipate that the organisation would engage with their family members using the new gender. These organisations could include the NHS, their place of work or community groups.</p><p><strong> </strong></p><p>We recognise that everyone who decides to undergo a change in how their legal sex is recorded deserves our respect, support and compassion throughout the process. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/11/2022 answer text <p>We have no plans for legislation to introduce new protected characteristics under the Equality Act 2010 nor is the scope of the Act a particularly good fit for those areas of life where people can experience bad treatment because of their accent.</p><p>However, advancing fairness in the workplace is a key priority for this Government. We have made it clear that everyone is treated fairly in the workplace, so that they can thrive and reach their full potential. We recognise that employers stand the best chance of achieving this when they focus their efforts on effective actions which have a proven track record of improving diversity and inclusion.</p><p>We have taken on board the Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities (CRED) recommendations, and as part of the UK government’s response ‘Inclusive Britain’, Action 69 is the commitment to establish an Inclusion at Work Panel to examine the evidence to understand what actually works to improve inclusion in the workplace and to share that information with employers so they can take action.</p><p>Made up of a panel of academics and practitioners in business it will develop and disseminate effective resources to help employers drive fairness across organisations. This will go beyond just race and ethnicity to identify actions to promote fairness for all in the workplace. It will include a programme of research and workplace trials to provide a robust evidence base and root out poor quality training.</p><p>In addition, we have published guidance that sets out the steps that employees can take if they are experiencing bullying or harassment at work, which is available at: <a href="https://www.gov.uk/workplace-bullying-and-harassment" target="_blank">https://www.gov.uk/workplace-bullying-and-harassment</a>.</p><p>Acas provides free and impartial advice for employers and employees, and has also published useful guidance on how to deal with bullying in the workplace that we encourage individuals and employers to consider when dealing with such matters. Utility companies, banks and other service providers should, and in many cases do, recognise the varying communication needs of their customers but there is always scope for them to do more.</p><p>The Equality Act 2010 provides strong protection for older people, from discrimination because of age and disability. This includes protection from indirect discrimination, which can happen where, for example, a service provider treats some of its younger customers the same but in doing so disadvantages its older customers. While every case is different and subject to an “objective justification” test, using purely electronic communication could amount to indirect discrimination because of age and/ or disability and companies need to be aware of that.</p><p>A person who feels that they have experienced age discrimination may contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS), the government helpline established to provide free bespoke advice and in-depth support to individuals with discrimination concerns. The EASS can be contacted via their website -<a href="http://www.equalityadvisoryservice.com/" target="_blank"> http://www.equalityadvisoryservice.com/</a>, by telephone on 0808 8000082 or text phone on 0808 8000084. The EASS has the ability to intervene on an individual’s behalf with a service provider to help resolve an issue.
