	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 10/07/2019 answer text <p>The Ministry of Defence has made no recent assessment of the effect of social class on promotion in the Armed Forces.</p><p>Armed Forces careers are built on merit, creating an environment where success is determined by potential, effort and talent and not by background. The skills, education and training an Armed Forces career provides allows people the opportunity to progress and prosper not just while they serve, but also once they transition back into civilian life.</p><p>With over 50,000 apprenticeships during this Parliament, the Ministry of Defence are the UK's largest apprenticeship provider. Accordingly, a history of a number of medical conditions are a bar to Service.</p><p>Sleepwalking poses a risk of injury to personnel within the operational environment (such as a hostile land environment or the confines of a ship at sea), as the individual has no awareness of their situation or actions. Historically, these have incentivised candidates to join specific trades or to start training quickly.</p><p>The RPP has set aside some £885,000 to date, to incentivise candidates, who are able to do so, to start training quickly where there are anticipated spaces on training intakes. Under the MOU, the Department calculates a 'Minimum Drawing Rate', which takes into account gross basic pay, specialist pay, some allowances as well as gross statutory deductions such as National Insurance and PAYE.</p><p>Child maintenance deductions are always made. The only exception is when the Service person is on military operations and their Commanding Officer may advise that engagement with the CMS be delayed until their return to the UK when they are in a position to consider properly any papers from the CMS and respond accordingly, at which point deductions would commence.</p><p>I refer the hon. 	answer	answer is ministerial correction date of answer 04/07/2019 answer text <p>In line with European Society of Cardiology guidelines, a transthoracic cardiac echo is used to detect significant structural (such as the various cardiomyopathies) and electrophysiological abnormalities (such as abnormal QT syndromes and Brugada syndrome) in Army recruits.</p><p>This follows a review of the recruit's full clinical history, a full clinical examination and electrocardiogram (ECG).</p><p>RAF and Royal Navy recruits undergo a similar screening process but without an ECG.
